What you'll do
- Manage the entire payroll process from data entry to final reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Prepare and review payroll journal entries, ensuring they align with the general ledger and are accurately reflected in financial statements.
- Collaborate with HR to ensure that employee records are up-to-date, including new hires, terminations, and changes in compensation.
- Conduct regular audits of payroll data to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Assist in the preparation of payroll-related reports for management, providing insights into payroll expenses and trends.
- Support the annual budgeting process by providing historical payroll data and forecasts.
- Liaise with external auditors during financial audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations related to payroll transactions.
- Stay informed about changes in payroll legislation and best practices, ensuring the company remains compliant and competitive.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll accounting or a similar role, with a strong understanding of payroll regulations and compliance.
- Proficiency in accounting software and payroll systems, with experience in tools such as ADP, Paychex, or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and generate actionable insights.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, ensuring accuracy in all payroll-related tasks.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with team members and external partners.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to have
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or similar certification is a plus.
