Stanley Consultants seeks a seasoned professional to fill the dual role of Senior Project Manager and Iowa Market Sector Leader. This position is central to the strategic growth and operational excellence of our national Water practice. The ideal candidate will merge rigorous project delivery with visionary market development. Success in this role requires balancing the on-time, on-budget completion of complex water initiatives with the cultivation of new client relationships and the expansion of Stanley's influence within the Iowa market. You will be a key architect of our market strategy, responsible for mentoring team members and identifying sustainable service opportunities that align with our firm's innovative direction.
This role represents a significant evolution from standard project management, offering the authority to shape business development and technical direction. As a leader within a collaborative and empowering environment, you will guide municipal, utility, and industrial projects from initial concept through final acceptance. Your leadership will ensure projects are delivered with resilience and efficiency while simultaneously building the long-term value of our client partnerships. This is an opportunity to leave a lasting mark on both project outcomes and the future trajectory of our water sector.
Core Responsibilities
You will serve as the primary owner for complex water projects, guiding them from first client contact through successful completion and final acceptance. This involves designing and implementing solution frameworks that use the latest technology and innovation to achieve resilient infrastructure outcomes. You will orchestrate detailed intake sessions to clarify project scope, align diverse stakeholders, and establish a solid foundation for execution.
A critical component of this position is leading cross-functional reviews to validate project approaches before implementation, ensuring alignment with Stanley's high standards. You will champion detailed execution plans that keep water projects on schedule and within budget, mitigating risks and managing expectations proactively. The role demands a strategic balance between maintaining strict delivery discipline and actively expanding our regional influence. You will cultivate new client contacts and partnerships to drive sustainable growth in the Iowa region.
You will provide expert guidance to technical teams navigating complex water and wastewater challenges, ensuring solutions are both practical and innovative. A key leadership function is mentoring junior staff, strengthening our delivery capacity and building internal capability for the future. You will partner with internal collaborators to secure long-term service agreements and identify new opportunities that enhance our value proposition.
Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this position, you must demonstrate a proven track record of at least three years managing projects specifically within water sectors. This experience must include successfully guiding teams through municipal or utility initiatives from conception to completion. A solid understanding of core engineering principles that underpin infrastructure solutions is essential for effectively navigating project constraints and requirements.
You must exhibit a strong commitment to ethical consulting standards, navigating client expectations with integrity and professionalism. The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining clear communication is mandatory. You must be a self-starter who thrives in a highly collaborative, open management culture that empowers its leaders.
