The firm is currently seeking a Transportation Roadway Department Manager for a full-time, onsite position in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Requisition ID for this role is 11248. Role and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will lead the technical staff and project managers within the Salt Lake City office. This position is critical for mentoring young engineers and engineering interns, leading senior-level engineers and designers, and growing a passionate, high-performing engineering team. Strong project planning, workload distribution, and effective communication skills are essential for this entrepreneurial role.
The Transportation Department Manager will provide engineering and project management expertise on a wide range of highway projects. Key responsibilities include roadway studies and design, drainage and utility systems, preparation of construction documents, cost estimates, project scheduling, and overall project management. Success in this position requires the ability to work effectively and communicate regularly with internal leadership, municipal clients, and federal, state, and local agencies.
This role involves managing all activities related to project scope, schedule, cost, quality, communications, and resource management. The manager will lead a team of engineers with varying levels of experience, assist in transportation market business development, and participate in professional organizations and technical committees.
Key Requirements
A professional engineering license in at least one US state is required for this position. The candidate must bring 3 to 5 years of transportation design experience on public projects. A deep familiarity with Utah municipal standards and state practices is necessary. The ability to read complex drawings and translate them into coordinated field instructions is a critical skill. Clear communication with leadership, clients, and government stakeholders is mandatory.
Compensation and Benefits
