Data Scientist
Job description
About the role
You will architect and own the end to end data strategy for our live and upcoming mobile titles, defining the analytical roadmap from instrumentation to insight delivery. You will partner closely with product managers, game designers, and monetization leads to translate business questions into rigorous experimental and observational study designs. You will take ownership of the full lifecycle of data projects, ensuring that models and dashboards move from raw event streams to actionable recommendations in production. You will establish robust data quality frameworks and governance practices that uphold the integrity of our analytics across rapidly scaling systems. You will mentor junior analysts and engineers on best practices for data analysis, storytelling, and scientific rigor within our gaming context. You will champion a culture of evidence-based decision making, where data, experimentation, and curiosity drive product and marketing choices. You will continuously evaluate emerging tools and methodologies, selecting the right stack to keep our analytics performant, reliable, and scalable. You will communicate complex analytical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring that insights drive measurable impact on key business metrics.
Key facts
What you'll do
Architect and maintain a scalable event tracking architecture that captures high volume gameplay and monetization events with low latency and high reliability.
Design and execute A B tests and quasi experimental evaluations of game features, monetization changes, and user acquisition strategies while controlling for selection bias and seasonality.
Develop and deploy predictive models for user behavior, lifetime value, churn, and acquisition channel performance using statistical and machine learning techniques.
Create interactive dashboards and data products that provide real time visibility into player acquisition, retention, progression, and revenue metrics for multiple game titles.
Implement rigorous data quality checks and monitoring systems to detect anomalies, schema changes, and instrumentation drift across evolving game builds.
Collaborate with data engineering to optimize data pipelines, warehouse schemas, and ETL processes to ensure timely, accurate, and cost effective access to analytics.
Perform deep cohort and funnel analyses to uncover friction points in player journeys, and quantify the business impact of proposed improvements.
Lead cross functional data reviews, translating complex analytical results into clear narratives and recommendations for game design, pricing, and marketing.
Partner with finance and executive leadership to provide ad hoc analysis, forecasting, and strategic insight for budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning.
Drive the adoption of data best practices across teams by documenting methodologies, maintaining analytical assets, and mentoring less experienced analysts.
Explore and prototype advanced techniques such as causal inference, uplift modeling, and segmentation strategies to unlock new opportunities in player engagement.
Continuously benchmark our analytics and modeling performance against industry standards and internal baselines, proposing improvements where appropriate.
Requirements
You hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, computer science, economics, or a related discipline.
You bring 5 or more years of professional experience in data science, analytics, or a related role, with a proven track record of delivering impact in a fast moving environment.
You demonstrate advanced proficiency in statistical analysis, experimental design, and causal inference methods used to evaluate game performance.
You are highly skilled in Python or R, with strong experience in data wrangling, visualization, and modeling using libraries relevant to analytics.
You have hands on experience with SQL and working with large relational or dimensional datasets in a production data environment.
You have a track record of building and deploying data products, whether dashboards, models, or automated reporting systems, that influence business decisions.
You show strong judgment in selecting appropriate modeling techniques, balancing complexity, interpretability, and business constraints.
You communicate effectively with both technical and non technical audiences, articulating analytical tradeoffs and recommendations clearly and persuasively.
Nice to have
Experience working in mobile games, ad tech, or high volume real time analytics environments is highly valued.
Familiarity with game specific metrics such as DAU, MAU, ARPDAU, LTV, retention curves, and funnel conversion is a plus.
Knowledge of cloud data platforms, modern data stacks, and CI CD practices for analytics code will strengthen your application.
