About the role
You will partner with Clinical, Quality, and CDI teams to understand operational goals and business objectives, and identify where data science can support them. You will perform statistical and machine learning analyses of clinical, claims, and other healthcare data, employing causal inference, predictive modeling, risk stratification, time-series analysis, and data visualization. You will apply clinical intelligence and relevant literature throughout the analytic process, validating that cohort definitions, code sets, and model features accurately reflect real-world clinical practice and documentation patterns. You will develop and maintain SQL and Python code for replicable analyses and production data pipelines. You will communicate analytic results to technical and non-technical stakeholders through clear visualizations, presentations, and written summaries. You will perform data QA and validation activities, including scripted and manual checks for data format, completeness, and accuracy.

What you'll do
- Examine healthcare operations and clinical workflows to pinpoint analytical needs in collaboration with Clinical, Quality, and CDI stakeholders.
- Construct statistical and machine learning models using clinical, claims, and EHR data, applying causal inference, predictive modeling, risk stratification, and time-series approaches.
- Utilize clinical intelligence and peer-reviewed literature to verify that analytic designs, cohort definitions, and code feature logic mirror real-world documentation and coding practices.
- Architect and sustain SQL and Python codebases to support reproducible analyses and scalable production pipelines.
- Translate complex analytic findings into clear visualizations, executive summaries, and presentations for clinical and technical audiences.
- Execute data QA and validation routines, combining automated scripts with manual review to ensure correctness, completeness, and format compliance.
- Integrate and harmonize data from multiple sources, performing normalization, joins, and feature engineering while managing SFTP and API connections.
- Operate within Git-based source control environments such as GitHub across the full software development lifecycle for analytics and pipelines.
- Apply robust applied statistics, including hypothesis testing, regression modeling, evaluation metrics, and causal inference techniques.
- Engage with cloud platforms by leveraging services such as AWS, GCP, or Azure for data storage, compute, and workflow orchestration.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or technical field such as Data Science, Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Health Informatics, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- Bring 2+ years of experience applying data science, statistics, or advanced analytics to healthcare data (clinical, claims, or EHR) in research, clinical, or business settings.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of clinical workflows and terminology, including familiarity with clinical vocabularies and coding systems such as CPT, ICD-10-CM, SNOMED CT, RxNorm, LOINC, and NPI.
- Show understanding of healthcare operations such as care management, risk adjustment, quality improvement, revenue cycle, prior authorization, and value-based care.
- Exhibit proficiency in SQL and Python for data querying, analysis, and pipeline development, with working knowledge of Bash for script execution.
- Possess a solid grounding in applied statistics, including hypothesis testing, regression, model evaluation, and causal inference concepts.
- Perform data integration and ETL work, including data normalization and processing, SFTP, and API connections.
- Use Git-based source control (for example, GitHub) throughout a software development lifecycle for production code.
- Conduct data QA and validation processes to ensure accuracy, completeness, and conformance.
- Engage with at least one major cloud platform such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Communicate effectively with both clinical and technical audiences, adapting messaging to suit diverse stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Earn an Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Health Informatics, Data Science, or a related field, or maintain clinical licensure combined with formal data science training.
- Accumulate 2+ years of experience in a clinical care, clinical informatics, or CDI setting or hold a degree, licensure, or certification in nursing, pharmacy, medicine, public health, or a related clinical field.
- Work with AWS services such as S3, Lambda, and Step Functions.
- Use the Arcadia Analytics Foundry database.
- Employ collaboration and project tracking tools such as Jira and Confluence.

Compensation: The salary range for this position is $105,000.00

COMPENSATION
The listed compensation range is paid bi-weekly per our standard payroll practices. Final base pay decisions are dependent upon a variety of factors which may include, but are not limited to: skill set, years of relevant experience, education, location, and licensure/certifications.

REMOTE WORK TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
Guide Health is a fully remote company. We provide new employees with the necessary equipment to function in their role at no charge to the employee. Employees provide their own internet connection, capable of conducting video calls on camera and connecting to various internal and external systems.
