Position Overview
This role focuses on the end-to-end application of advanced forecasting within critical business workflows. Your decisions will directly influence how clients manage risk and opportunity. The position emphasizes rapid iteration and clear accountability for results.
Key Responsibilities
You will design and deploy machine learning and spatio-temporal models that integrate real-time weather feeds with client sales data. The focus is on predicting demand, optimizing forecasts, and quantifying operational risk. You will conduct deep exploratory analysis of complex meteorological datasets to identify high-value patterns. This work translates probabilistic trends into concrete, strategic recommendations for stakeholders.
Collaboration is central to this position. You will work directly with Sales, Marketing, and Customer Support teams. The goal is to build analytics solutions that drive B2B initiatives and commercial growth. You will use distributed frameworks such as PySpark, Dask, and Ray. Modern ML stacks including Scikit-learn, PyTorch, and TensorFlow will be used to optimize model speed, scale inference pipelines, and reduce compute costs.
Ownership of the model lifecycle is a core duty. This includes testing, deployment, and ongoing monitoring to ensure production-grade stability and reliability. You will maintain technical documentation for model architectures, data lineage, and decision logic. This ensures reproducibility and facilitates long-term institutional knowledge.
Required Qualifications
A degree in a STEM discipline is essential. Fields include Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or other related quantitative areas. Formal graduate study is preferred but not mandatory. The role requires a minimum of three years of data science experience in B2B contexts. Specialized strength in spatio-temporal modeling and time-series forecasting is required.
High proficiency with Google BigQuery is non-negotiable. Skills must include SQL, window functions, query optimization, and large-scale data manipulation. Advanced expertise in Python is expected for statistical modeling and data visualization. Proficiency with Matplotlib, Seaborn, or Plotly is required, along with hands-on experience using NumPy, SciPy, Scikit-learn, and TensorFlow or PyTorch.
Experience with distributed computing frameworks like Apache Spark to process large-scale datasets is required. The ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to non-technical audiences is critical.
Compensation and Location
This is a full-time position based in Oakville, Canada. The compensation range is $120,880.00 to $157,140.00 annually.
Nice to Have
Demonstrated experience building and deploying Deep Learning models in industry or research is valued. Familiarity with Large Language Models or retrieval-augmented generation pipelines for automated reporting or unstructured data processing is a plus. Experience scaling models across massive datasets using distributed processing frameworks is also considered an asset.
