About the role
SpaceXAI is building AI systems to map the universe and expand human knowledge. We are seeking a project manager to oversee the construction and deployment of power generation assets required to support our growing AI infrastructure. In this capacity, you will own the end to end delivery of critical energy projects that keep our computational platforms online and expanding. You will be responsible for ensuring that every phase of the project lifecycle is managed with precision, from initial concept through final commissioning. The role requires a disciplined organizer who can translate complex technical requirements into actionable plans for cross functional teams. You will act as the central point of coordination between engineering, procurement, and operations stakeholders. Success in this position will depend on your ability to balance strict schedules with rigorous safety and quality standards.

What you'll do
- Orchestrate the complete lifecycle of power generation initiatives, encompassing gas turbines, reciprocating engines, renewable energy integration, and substations.
- Architect detailed project schedules and financial budgets while strategically allocating resources to meet aggressive deployment timelines.
- Conduct proactive risk identification and implement mitigation strategies, managing change orders to preserve delivery timelines and financial parameters.
- Serve as the primary liaison with utility providers, regulatory bodies, and internal departments to secure necessary permitting and ensure seamless grid interconnection.
- Track critical project KPIs and financial health indicators, delivering concise and informative status updates to company leadership on a regular basis.
- Collaborate closely with engineering personnel to scrutinize technical designs and specifications, ensuring alignment with project objectives and constraints.
- Direct procurement activities and cultivate strong relationships with vendors and contractors to secure favorable terms and reliable execution.
- Enforce strict compliance with environmental, safety, and quality regulations throughout all phases of project activity.
- Facilitate cross functional workshops to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical project parameters.
- Monitor equipment delivery schedules and installation milestones to prevent bottlenecks and maintain momentum on critical path activities.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation packages that capture decisions, changes, and lessons learned for future reference.
- Drive continuous improvement by analyzing project performance data and recommending adjustments to processes and methodologies.
- Coordinate site visits and inspections to verify that work is progressing according to plan and quality benchmarks.
- Support the development of contingency plans to address potential disruptions in the supply chain or regulatory approvals.
Requirements
- Possess 5 or more years of experience managing projects within the energy infrastructure or power generation sectors.
- Demonstrate a proven track record of completing large scale, multi million dollar energy projects on time and within budget.
- Show a technical comprehension of electrical infrastructure and diverse power generation methods, including diesel, gas, and renewables.
- Exhibit proficiency in industry standard project management software such as MS Project or Primavera P6.
- Display the ability to work onsite in the Southaven, MS and Memphis, TN area on a consistent basis.
- Maintain strong communication and leadership capabilities in a fast moving, high pressure environment.
- Demonstrate a commitment to safety protocols and regulatory compliance in all project activities.
- Show reliability and integrity in managing confidential project information and stakeholder expectations.
Nice to have
- Have direct experience with hyperscale energy projects or data center power systems.
- Hold professional certifications such as Professional Engineer (PE) or Project Management Professional (PMP).
- Bring a background in high voltage substations, utility scale power, or battery energy storage systems (BESS).
- Show knowledge of grid compliance, permitting procedures, and relevant regulatory frameworks.
- Hold a Bachelor degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Practical notes
This role requires full time onsite engagement in Southaven, Mississippi, with potential travel to project sites in the Memphis, Tennessee region.
