We are currently seeking an Electrical Reliability Engineer to become a vital member of our facility operations team. This role will focus on the design, implementation, and maintenance of the electrical power infrastructure that supports our data centers, ensuring they operate efficiently and reliably.

What you'll do
- Design and specify comprehensive power distribution systems, including switchgear, motor control centers, and emergency backup power solutions to ensure uninterrupted service.
- Supervise the installation of critical systems such as lighting, fire alarms, grounding systems, and data distribution wiring to maintain a safe and efficient environment.
- Manage the ground support system controls, including the development and implementation of ladder logic for operational efficiency.
- Conduct load flow analyses to assess and optimize the performance of electrical equipment within our facilities.
- Provide support to facility technicians by troubleshooting controllers and power hardware, ensuring quick resolution of any issues that arise.
- Collaborate with local utility providers to coordinate maintenance and installation efforts, ensuring compliance with all regulations and standards.
- Guarantee that all designs and implementations adhere to relevant codes and standards, including NFPA 70E, NFPA 70 NEC, NFPA 497, NFPA 101, Volumes 5 and 6 of AFSPCMAN 91-710, and IBC standards.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the reliability and efficiency of our electrical systems.
- Prepare and maintain documentation related to electrical systems, ensuring that all records are up-to-date and accessible for future reference.
- Engage in training and development opportunities to stay current with industry trends and advancements in electrical engineering.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical systems with other facility operations, contributing to the overall success of our projects.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related engineering discipline is required.
- A minimum of three years of hands-on experience in power distribution, switchgear, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, and generator operations is essential.
- Strong understanding of electrical codes and standards, particularly those relevant to facility operations and safety.
- Proven ability to analyze and interpret technical documents, including power and control schematics and operational manuals.
- Experience in troubleshooting and resolving electrical issues in a timely manner.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Five or more years of relevant professional experience in a similar role is preferred.
- A Professional Engineering (PE) license would be advantageous.
- Familiarity with variable frequency drives (VFDs), industrial pumps, and MODBUS communication protocols.
- Experience in medium voltage distribution and control panel design would be beneficial.
- Knowledge of power coordination and arc flash safety protocols is a plus.
- Previous experience in a data center environment is desirable.

- Experienced with UPS systems and emergency generator operations.

- Skilled in fire alarm systems and their integration into facility operations.

- Familiar with VFDs and their implementation in industrial settings.
- Knowledgeable about NFPA and IBC code compliance to ensure safety and regulatory adherence.
