About the role
Become a vital member of the Special Programs team, where you will be responsible for the development and testing of an internal system designed for the analysis, simulation, and prototyping of software utilized across all SpaceX flight systems. This position grants you complete ownership of new features within a high-performance web application that is essential for controlling and testing flight systems. Your work will contribute to the creation of a reliable system that enhances both software and hardware development across various engineering teams.

Level II: $145,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year
(An active Top Secret clearance can provide a 10% salary differential, potentially adding up to $20,000 annually, contingent upon official briefing into a classified program.)
What you'll do
- Develop comprehensive full-stack solutions for the management of simulation and flight software, focusing on machine-to-machine communication interfaces.
- Architect data pipelines and structures that adhere to specific design requirements and technical constraints.

Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 1 year of professional experience in software development, with proficiency in languages such as Python, C++, or Java.
- Proven experience working with high-volume data pipelines.
- Capability to obtain and sustain a Top Secret Security Clearance.
Nice to have
- Demonstrated expertise in software design and development methodologies.
- Familiarity with JavaScript frameworks such as Lit, React, or Redux.
- Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Professional background with Linux or Unix operating systems and associated tools.
- Knowledge of database management systems, including Postgres, MySQL, or Oracle.
- Strong debugging skills and experience in performance optimization, data throughput analysis, and unit testing.
- Creative and innovative problem-solving skills.

- An active Top Secret, Top Secret SCI, or DOE Level Q clearance is a plus.

Practical notes
This role necessitates the acquisition and maintenance of a Top Secret Security Clearance. While it is not immediately required, it is advisable to initiate the application process as soon as possible. Inability to secure the clearance may lead to modifications in employment status or termination. Holding an active clearance may allow you to participate in sensitive SpaceX missions, which will involve pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing. Be prepared for the possibility of extended hours and weekend work as needed.
