Sr. Software Engineer
Job description
About the role
Join the Starlink team to build software that powers the world's largest satellite constellation, delivering high-speed internet to millions of users globally. You will work across the full stack to create reliable, scalable systems that support satellite operations, consumer hardware, and the software tying everything together.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Build responsive, well-structured web applications for Starlink systems.
- Create highly available software that runs at scale with minimal maintenance.
- Write expert-level TypeScript React code for modern browsers.
- Develop full stack features within a .NET microservices architecture running on Kubernetes.
- Implement monitoring and alerting systems to improve observability and support data-driven decisions.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to deliver business outcomes.
- Participate in architecture discussions, design sessions, and code reviews with other Starlink engineering teams.
- Investigate user problems deeply to develop efficient solutions.
As a senior engineer on the Starlink team, you will work across the full stack on software that operates the largest satellite constellation in the world. On the front end, that means building responsive, well-structured web applications and writing expert-level TypeScript React code for modern browsers. On the back end, you will develop full stack features within a .NET microservices architecture running on Kubernetes, creating highly available software that runs at scale with minimal maintenance.
A significant part of the role is operational. You will implement monitoring and alerting systems to improve observability and support data-driven decisions, and you will investigate user problems deeply to develop efficient solutions. The work is collaborative: you will partner with internal stakeholders to deliver business outcomes and participate in architecture discussions, design sessions, and code reviews with other Starlink engineering teams. Because Starlink systems serve millions of users, reliability at scale is a constant consideration, and engineers are expected to own outcomes end to end, from the initial feature idea through deployment and ongoing operation. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering excellent user experiences are therefore core to how the team works together.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or another STEM field plus 5+ years of full-stack software development experience, OR 7+ years of professional full-stack experience without a degree (internships count toward this total).
- Willingness to work extended hours and weekends when necessary.
Nice to have
- Programming background in Python, C#, .NET, Go, Scala, Java, or comparable object-oriented languages.
- Production-level experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Front-end work using Angular, React, or similar JavaScript frameworks.
- Database knowledge with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or related technologies.
- Familiarity with version control, continuous integration, and continuous delivery practices.
- Skills in profiling applications and optimizing performance.
- Experience with build systems such as Make, Bazel, Pants, Buck, or Gradle.
- Familiarity with package managers like pip and npm.
- Comfort working in UNIX-like environments and with CI/CD tooling.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Commitment to delivering excellent user experiences and owning outcomes end to end, and strong attention to detail.

About the company
Based in Starbase, Texas, a company pursues work in spaceflight, telecom, and artificial intelligence. A unit handles rocket launches, leading yearly orbital counts beyond other national and commercial teams. Another unit runs Starlink, a satellite communications firm. A third area, through SpaceXAI, advances Grok and AI integration with X, while managing data center operations. Roles often cross these paths. Candidates with engineering, software, or operations backgrounds may find chances to join projects that span launch, connectivity, and machine learning efforts in this Texas-based enterprise.
