Supplier Industrialization Engineer, PCB/PCBA

About the role

This position sits within the Starshield Supply Chain team, supporting satellite and gateway production for government-focused missions. You will manage supplier relationships and ensure uninterrupted supply of printed circuit boards and assemblies for the Starshield constellation. The role bridges internal engineering, manufacturing, and external suppliers to hit production targets while improving cost, quality, and delivery performance.

What you'll do

• Maintain supply continuity for PCBs and electronic components across the Starshield program
• Partner with design, R&D, hardware reliability, commercial supply chain, and production groups to deliver finished products
• Evaluate supplier manufacturing processes and quality systems to inform sourcing decisions
• Identify, audit, and qualify new suppliers as needed
• Create and enforce technical requirements and quality flow-downs for hardware manufacturing
• Run production part approval process (PPAP) activities with suppliers to support volume production
• Oversee qualification and reliability work at supplier sites
• Develop process controls for critical product characteristics
• Propose design or process changes that lower risk and reduce defect opportunities
• Track supplier quality and delivery data to spot trends and close performance gaps
• Advise suppliers on manufacturing methods to cut costs, shorten cycle times, and raise yields
• Serve as the link between purchasing, engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers when resolving quality issues
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective action efforts for quality escapes or containments
• Own supplier SPC programs, yield improvement projects, and new tool or process qualifications
• Present project updates and reports to internal teams, leadership, and suppliers

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering field
• Hands-on exposure to PCBs, engineering laminates, electrochemical processes, or microelectronics fabrication (professional, academic, internship, or project-based experience accepted)
• Valid driver's license
• Willingness to work extended hours and weekends when deadlines demand it
• Availability for 25-60% travel, domestic and international

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in engineering, business, or supply chain
• Familiarity with supplier quality frameworks such as PPAP, APQP, FAIR, RCCA, and lean manufacturing
• Knowledge of quality management systems including ISO 9000, TS, AS9100, and NADCAP
• Understanding of statistical methods like SPC, design of experiments, and Six Sigma
• Experience applying structured problem-solving approaches such as 8D
• Background in electronics manufacturing, especially PCBs for high-speed or RF applications
• Track record of influencing stakeholders across organizational boundaries
• Ability to prioritize and stay organized in a fast-moving, cross-functional setting with limited supervision
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting to suppliers and leadership

Practical notes

• Applicants must meet ITAR requirements: U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident, refugee under 8 U.S.C. 1157, asylee under 8 U.S.C. 1158, or otherwise able to obtain required State Department authorization
• Salary range for Level I: $100,000 - $115,000 per year; Level II: $110,000 - $135,000 per year, based on experience, education, and job-related skills
