What you'll do

• Oversee the complete process of new product builds, starting from raw materials and encompassing all CNC operations and tool assembly tasks.
• Assess and address non-conforming machined parts, implementing both corrective and preventative actions to enhance quality.
• Develop and document manufacturing standards aimed at boosting shop reliability and ensuring consistency in production.
• Collaborate with team members to create and refine in-house machining maintenance procedures.
• Identify and propose improvements to enhance yield, increase production rates, and reduce costs across the manufacturing process.
• Utilize CAD software and part drawings to ensure quality validation and to establish clear work instructions for production teams.
• Manage the machining of complex parts that require tight tolerances and are made from a variety of materials.
• Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to streamline operations and enhance overall efficiency within the Tool and Die department.
• Train and mentor junior staff on best practices in machining and manufacturing processes.
• Participate in cross-functional teams to support the integration of new technologies and processes into the manufacturing workflow.
• Maintain a safe and organized work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.
• Document and report on production metrics and quality control measures to ensure transparency and accountability.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent certification is required.
• A minimum of three years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing setting, or a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as science, mathematics, or engineering.
• Candidates must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, or asylees to comply with ITAR regulations.
• Willingness to work weekends and overtime as necessary to meet production demands.
• Physical capability to stand for extended periods, climb ladders, bend, reach, and lift items weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.
• Availability for business travel up to 30% of the time is essential.

Nice to have

• At least two years of experience managing the flow of raw materials within a machine shop environment.
• Proficiency in CAD software, particularly Solidworks or NX, with a minimum of two years of experience.
• Familiarity with various Tool and Die manufacturing processes, including EDM, CNC machining, and welding, with at least two years of hands-on experience.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey information and collaborate with team members.
• Competence in using Microsoft Windows, Excel, and email for daily tasks and reporting.
• Experience providing constructive feedback on design and process improvements to engineering teams.

Skills & tools

• Proficient in CAD software (NX, Solidworks)
• Expertise in CNC machining techniques
• Knowledge of Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM)
• Skills in welding processes
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
