Spaceport Designer, Interior Design

About the role

Become a pivotal member of the Starbase Development team, where you will play a crucial role in defining the visual character of our Texas facility. Your responsibilities will encompass overseeing interior design projects from their inception through to their final execution, ensuring that our spaces inspire and prepare for the journey to Mars.

What you'll do

• Engage with various stakeholders to assess project requirements and facilitate effective spatial planning.
• Develop comprehensive design presentations, including material selections and visual renderings to effectively convey design concepts.
• Produce detailed technical drawings, including sections, elevations, and timelines for project completion.
• Maintain an organized database of finishes, furniture, fixtures, and equipment while overseeing the material studio's operations.
• Set and uphold design standards to ensure a cohesive brand identity throughout the campus.
• Supervise the procurement and installation processes for all interior design components.
• Collaborate with internal teams to incorporate functional and utility needs into your design solutions.
• Manage project budgets, timelines, and cost management strategies to ensure financial efficiency.
• Address and resolve any construction or design challenges that may arise during the execution phase on-site.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• At least 2 years of experience in producing design documentation, including specifications, schedules, and detailed plans.
• Willingness to work on-site, including potential extended hours and weekends as dictated by project demands.
• Proven ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously within a dynamic and high-pressure environment.

Nice to have

• A bachelor's or master's degree in architecture, interior design, or a closely related discipline.
• Familiarity with modern, minimalist, or futuristic design aesthetics.
• Experience in branding or creating physical environments within the hospitality and commercial sectors.
• Background in selecting furniture, fixtures, equipment, and artwork for commercial or industrial settings.
• Experience in creating custom art pieces, such as sculptures or murals, to enhance interior spaces.

Skills & tools

• Proficiency in design software such as Revit, Sketchup, Revu Bluebeam, or AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with rendering tools like Photoshop, Lumion, D5, or Enscape to create high-quality visual presentations.
