About the role

SpaceX is at the forefront of developing the infrastructure necessary for human habitation on Mars while also enhancing global connectivity through its Starlink initiative. In this position, you will oversee the procurement and negotiation processes related to ground network infrastructure essential for our satellite constellation. Based in Redmond, your primary responsibility will be to secure agreements that ensure the operational efficiency of our global gateways and points-of-presence.

What you'll do

• Lead the negotiation and management of contracts pertaining to ground infrastructure, which includes land leases, colocation agreements, construction contracts, equipment installation, and maintenance services.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, legal, finance, and operations, to guarantee that contract terms adhere to both technical specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct thorough due diligence and risk assessments on potential vendors to ensure compliance with ITAR regulations, export controls, and environmental standards.
• Monitor contract performance metrics, manage renewal processes, and address any disputes that may arise.
• Innovate new contract frameworks that facilitate the expansion of network services as the company scales.
• Cultivate strong relationships with suppliers to negotiate favorable terms and secure volume discounts.
• Ensure that all procurement activities are in alignment with SpaceX policies and federal acquisition regulations.
• Provide regular updates and reports on contract status and vendor performance to senior management.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in business, law, or supply chain management, or a minimum of 2 years of experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating legal or commercial contracts.
• Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed to meet project deadlines.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee to comply with ITAR requirements.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail to effectively assess contract terms and vendor proposals.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate collaboration with various teams and stakeholders.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

Nice to have

• Previous experience in negotiating contracts within the telecommunications, data centers, or infrastructure procurement sectors.
• Familiarity with contract management software such as Ariba, Coupa, or similar platforms.
• Background in vendor management within technical or engineering environments.
• A solid understanding of risk management principles and commercial contract law.
• Experience in drafting and negotiating complex agreements that involve multiple stakeholders.

Skills & tools

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Experience with contract management tools like Ariba or Coupa, or other similar software.
• Strong organizational skills to maintain accurate records of contracts and vendor interactions.

Practical notes

• The salary range for Level I positions is between $85,000 and $100,000 annually.
• For Level II roles, the salary range is from $95,000 to $120,000 per year.
• The total compensation package includes company stock, stock options, long-term cash awards, discretionary bonuses, and participation in an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.

• Company-provided shuttles are available from select locations in Seattle to the Redmond office for employee convenience.
