About the role
SpaceX is on the lookout for a seasoned security officer to ensure the safety of its facilities and operations at the Vandenberg, California location. This role encompasses both stationary and mobile patrol responsibilities, as well as the coordination of emergency responses. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to mentor less experienced team members, all while playing a crucial part in safeguarding mission operations and enhancing your expertise across various security disciplines.

What you'll do
- Conduct both vehicle and foot patrols across the company's properties, ensuring vigilance at fixed security posts.
- Design and implement advanced training programs for security staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Perform thorough research and analysis of potential threats to support ongoing security initiatives.
- Mentor team members in identifying and reporting suspicious activities to the operations center effectively.
- Respond to various emergencies, including fires, medical situations, and encounters with suspicious individuals, while providing direction to others present.
- Regularly assess and update risk evaluations for critical facilities to ensure optimal security measures.
- Develop and refine emergency response protocols based on operational data and past incidents.
- Manage domestic transportation logistics for flight hardware, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with local law enforcement, community representatives, and contacts within the aerospace sector.
- Enhance your skill set by pursuing advanced certifications, such as EMT, investigations, surveillance, VIP escorting, and security systems management.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or an equivalent qualification is necessary.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in military service, law enforcement, overseas security contracting, or corporate security roles.
- At least 1 year of experience in executive protection, mobile asset protection, or as part of an emergency response team.
- Candidates must possess or be eligible for a TS/SCI security clearance.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Applicants must hold or be eligible for a state security officer license.
- Ability to successfully pass an Air Force background check for access to Vandenberg.
- Flexibility to work 12-hour shifts (either day or night, from 6 AM to 6 PM or 6 PM to 6 AM), including nights, weekends, overtime, and rotating schedules.
- Willingness to travel up to 15% for security-related assignments.
- Capability to stand for extended periods when necessary.
Nice to have
- A bachelor's degree or higher qualification is preferred.
- Experience with military deployment or counterinsurgency operations is advantageous.
- A history of responding to critical incidents is beneficial.
- Training as a Combat Medic, EMT-B, or Paramedic is a plus.
- Certifications in advanced trauma care, such as TCCC, TECC, or Combat Lifesaver, are desirable.
- Experience in small unit leadership roles is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Skills in conflict de-escalation are beneficial.
- Experience in instructing security tactics and procedures is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is preferred.
- A background in collaborative teamwork is advantageous.
- Knowledge of foreign languages is a plus.

Practical notes
- The hiring process includes a comprehensive pre-employment screening, which consists of a background check, psychological evaluation, physical fitness assessment, and drug/alcohol testing.
- Employees will undergo random drug and alcohol testing throughout their employment.
- Bi-annual physical fitness evaluations are mandatory.
