What you'll do

• Champion policies related to broadband and spectrum that align with the company's international business objectives.
• Draft legal documents, formal communications, and advocacy resources to support policy initiatives.
• Collaborate with government representatives and international organizations, including the International Telecommunications Union, to promote SpaceX's interests.
• Oversee the licensing procedures for spacecraft, ground stations, and related services to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Offer regulatory insights to internal teams focused on business development and engineering projects.
• Monitor and ensure adherence to both domestic and international telecommunications regulations.
• Develop strategic relationships with key stakeholders in the telecommunications sector to advance policy goals.

Requirements

• A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from a recognized law school is essential.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in telecommunications or a related engineering discipline.
• Candidates must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, or asylees to comply with ITAR regulations.
• Willingness to work onsite in Washington, DC, is mandatory.
• Proven track record in regulatory affairs and policy advocacy within the telecommunications sector.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulations and policies.

Nice to have

• Over 5 years of direct experience dealing with regulatory and policy issues in telecommunications.
• Familiarity with the workings of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and other relevant U.S. federal agencies.
• Knowledge of radio frequency spectrum technology and the challenges within the international telecommunications landscape.
• Experience interacting with global stakeholders in both commercial and governmental mobile sectors.
• Previous involvement in international regulatory negotiations or policy development would be advantageous.
