About the role
In this position, you will be responsible for the design and upkeep of essential telecommunications systems that support various operations, including launch sites and spacecraft production. Your work will involve managing intricate fiber and copper networks, radio frequency systems, and ground communications, all of which are vital for the success of SpaceX's Falcon, Dragon, and Starship missions.

What you'll do
- Design, implement, and troubleshoot both fiber optic and copper network systems that support IP-based applications.
- Oversee construction contracts, including negotiations and project close-out, while collaborating with maintenance and production teams to minimize operational downtime.
- Execute telecommunication projects by leveraging design change requests and analyzing power monitoring data to ensure optimal performance.
- Assess the performance of electrical systems, focusing on breaker coordination, conducting arc flash studies, and tracking load capacities.
- Supervise the installation of equipment and provide technical support and guidance to field technicians during implementation.
- Manage the procurement of materials necessary for large-scale infrastructure projects, ensuring timely delivery and quality standards.
- Conduct site assessments to evaluate existing telecommunications infrastructure and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate telecommunications systems with other operational technologies.
- Prepare detailed documentation and reports on project progress, system performance, and compliance with industry standards.
- Stay updated on the latest technologies and best practices in telecommunications and electrical engineering to enhance system reliability and efficiency.
- Participate in training and development initiatives to improve team skills and knowledge in ICT design and engineering.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices during all phases of project execution.
Requirements
- Possession of a BICSI RCDD certification or a bachelor's degree in a relevant STEM discipline.
- At least 2 years of experience in the field of industrial electrical engineering, particularly with medium to high voltage power systems.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee to meet ITAR compliance requirements.
- Capability to pass Air Force background checks for access to Vandenberg and Cape Canaveral facilities.
- Eligibility for a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) is required.
- A valid driver's license and the physical ability to lift up to 25 lbs without assistance.
Nice to have
- Over 5 years of professional experience in designing telecom systems for commercial or industrial applications, including LAN, WAN, WIFI, LTE, and ISP/OSP cabling.
- Strong expertise in high-density structured cabling for commercial environments.
- Familiarity with low voltage AC/DC power systems, UPS systems, backup generators, and automatic transfer switches.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD or Revit for drafting and modeling.
- Knowledge of ANSI/TIA/BICSI standards, as well as the National Electrical Code (NEC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) regulations, and the International Building Code.
- Experience in construction project management, including scheduling and budgeting processes.
Skills & tools
