The is responsible for steering the complete lifecycle of bid development for launch and Starlink service contracts. You will act as the central coordinator, aligning technical and business stakeholders to construct compelling and precise responses that articulate the SpaceX mission and capabilities. This role demands ownership of the entire proposal workflow from initial customer instruction to final submission. You will translate complex customer requirements into structured schedules and outlines that guide cross-functional teams. Success in this position means ensuring every document meets the highest standards of quality and persuasion. You will manage tight timelines and high-stakes deliverables critical to winning new business. What you'll do
Analyze intricate customer requirements to formulate precise proposal schedules and detailed outlines that structure the entire response. Direct writers and specialists across the company to guarantee strict adherence to deadlines and clarity of expectations for every section of the response. Collaborate closely with technical and engineering staff to collect accurate data and draft content that satisfies government and commercial bid standards. Write and edit both technical and non-technical text to ensure clarity, logical flow, and superior readability for evaluators. Create and refine persuasive graphics, figures, and tables that visually support the narrative and strengthen the proposal's impact. Fact-check all content meticulously to ensure absolute accuracy and compliance with company editorial styles and explicit customer instructions. Manage the multi-stage approval process efficiently and oversee the final production and delivery of documents to the client on schedule. Improve existing proposal templates and internal workflows to enhance team efficiency while maintaining a comprehensive repository of frequently used information and reference materials. Monitor the competitive landscape and integrate relevant insights regarding the SpaceX business model into the strategic positioning of each proposal. Ensure all documentation strictly follows strict style guides and formatting rules to present a unified and professional image of SpaceX.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Possess 5+ years of professional experience in document editing or publishing roles.
- Demonstrate the ability to work onsite in Hawthorne, CA, with occasional travel required for project needs.
- Exhibit availability to work extended hours or weekends during mission-critical deadlines without delay.
- Show a strong commitment to producing high-quality work under tight timelines and pressure.
- Maintain excellent written and verbal communication skills to interface effectively with diverse teams.
- Ensure meticulous attention to detail to prevent errors in complex, multi-page documents.
- Comply with all ITAR regulatory requirements and possess the necessary U.S. citizenship or eligible immigration status.
Nice to have
- Earn a Degree in English, Journalism, Professional Writing, or Technical Writing to strengthen foundational knowledge.
- Bring experience with grant or proposal writing in other competitive environments.
- Show Proficiency in Microsoft Office 2016 or newer for document creation and data management.
- Demonstrate an understanding of government or commercial proposal processes and best practices.
- Have experience writing headlines or captions and rigorously following strict style guides and brand standards.
