About the role
In this role, you will be responsible for the upkeep and enhancement of mechanical systems within the Starlink production facility. Your primary focus will be on troubleshooting, evaluating, and improving various mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and structural elements of the building. This position is crucial for ensuring ongoing enhancements, sustainability efforts, and adherence to safety and environmental regulations.

What you'll do
- Deliver engineering expertise for the design, operation, enhancement, and troubleshooting of all mechanical systems and components within the facility, focusing on HVAC, plumbing, and structural integrity.
- Coordinate maintenance and construction activities to ensure minimal disruption to production schedules.
- Lead projects aimed at improving mechanical systems by utilizing design change requests and advanced detection techniques.
- Identify and resolve mechanical system issues, develop maintenance protocols, establish service schedules, and manage the procurement of materials necessary for machinery maintenance.
- Draft, negotiate, and oversee construction contracts with subcontractors across various disciplines, ensuring successful project completion.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to design, optimize, and maintain mechanical systems effectively.
- Provide mechanical engineering assistance to facility technicians for troubleshooting existing electrical equipment and control systems.
- Supervise the installation, operation, and maintenance of equipment to ensure compliance with specified operational parameters.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering field is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the design and maintenance of industrial HVAC and plumbing systems is essential.
- Candidates must be U.S. citizens, nationals, lawful permanent residents (green card holders), refugees, or asylees.
Nice to have
- Over 8 years of professional experience in the design and maintenance of industrial HVAC and plumbing systems is preferred.
- A proven history of involvement in clean-room design and maintenance is advantageous.
- Experience in implementing maintenance solutions that have minimal impact on operations is a plus.
- Ability to effectively assist technicians in troubleshooting and repair efforts is desirable.
- Capacity to perform well in high-pressure environments, with the flexibility to work extended hours when necessary.
- Detail-oriented and proactive in executing preventive maintenance strategies.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit software applications at a beginner to intermediate level is beneficial.
- Knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards, such as ASHRAE, NFPA, and the International Building Code, is a plus.
- Previous experience in system design, sizing, specification, and installation, particularly with HVAC chillers, pumps, boilers, air handlers, and HEPA filtration systems, is valuable.
- A comprehensive understanding of HVAC operations, especially in managing chilled water plants operated by air-cooled chillers, is preferred.
- Experience with advanced data and monitoring systems, such as Schneider Building Management Systems, is a plus.
- Strong grasp of construction project management principles, including scheduling, budgeting, and contractor oversight, is advantageous.
