About the role
Become a vital member of the team responsible for developing the Starlink satellite constellation, aimed at delivering worldwide broadband internet access. In this position, you will oversee the entire lifecycle of space-grade hardware, starting from the initial design phase and testing, all the way through to mass production and operational deployment in space.

What you'll do
- Take full ownership of hardware development, guiding projects from initial concept through to launch and production phases.
- Establish design criteria and enhance system performance through iterative design processes.
- Apply design for manufacturing (DFM) principles to minimize part counts and streamline assembly processes.
- Collaborate closely with supply chain and production teams to create efficient manufacturing workflows.
- Execute performance and environmental testing to ensure designs meet compliance standards.
- Oversee project timelines and ensure accountability for the outcomes of the products developed.
- Engage in cross-functional teamwork to address challenges and optimize design solutions.
- Document design processes and maintain comprehensive records for future reference and compliance.
- Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements to incorporate best practices into your work.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues that arise during testing and production phases.
- Mentor junior engineers and interns, sharing knowledge and fostering a collaborative environment.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline is required.
- At least 1 year of relevant professional experience or internship in mechanical or electromechanical design, analysis, testing, or manufacturing is essential.
- Proficiency in CAD and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software is necessary.
- Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed to meet critical project deadlines.
- Candidates must comply with ITAR regulations: U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, refugee, or asylee status is required.
Nice to have
- A Master's degree in an engineering or technical discipline would be advantageous.
- A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in mechanical design and analysis is preferred.
- At least 2 years of hands-on project experience, ideally in a leadership role, is desirable.
- Advanced skills in 3D CAD software, particularly NX, are a plus.
- Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and structural failure mode analysis is beneficial.
- Experience in high-volume production, material selection, PCB mechanical design, or statistical process control would be an asset.
Skills & tools
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (NX is preferred)

- Familiarity with programming languages, which may vary depending on the specific team requirements
Practical notes
- Compensation for this role is structured as follows: Level I ($100,000 - $115,000 annually) and Level II ($110,000 - $135,000 annually).
