About the role
SpaceX is looking for an engineer to design and optimize how materials move and are stored to support Starship production. You will create strategies for receiving, inventory management, and lineside presentation to help the company scale its flight and non-flight programs.

What you'll do
- Design end-to-end material flow processes using value stream mapping to ensure efficient movement from receipt to production.
- Create detailed warehouse and lineside layouts to maximize storage density and capacity.
- Build models for labor and equipment requirements based on lean principles and time studies.
- Develop sustainable, cost-effective packaging solutions for logistics between vendors and internal facilities.
- Analyze performance data to identify bottlenecks and implement improvements.
- Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and training for new processes or equipment.
- Coordinate with supply chain, production, and engineering teams to ensure project alignment.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years of engineering experience within a manufacturing setting.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee to comply with ITAR regulations.
- Ability to work weekends and extended hours as needed for major project milestones.
Nice to have
- 2+ years of specific experience in material flow engineering.
- Demonstrated project leadership in industrial environments.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD for facility and layout design.
- Experience with material handling equipment and packaging implementation.
- Strong background in supply chain planning and warehousing design.
Skills & tools
- Data analysis tools including SQL, Tableau, and Excel.
- AutoCAD or similar layout software.

Practical notes
- Salary range for Level I: $100,000 to $115,000 per year.
- Salary range for Level II: $110,000 to $135,000 per year.
- Compensation includes potential stock options, long-term incentives, discretionary bonuses, and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
