About the company
Space Exploration Technologies Corp., operating as SpaceX, is a US provider of aerospace, telecommunications, and artificial intelligence services based in Starbase, Texas. Elon Musk created the enterprise in 2002 to lower spaceflight expenses, improve space travel reliability for everyday people, and establish a human colony on Mars. Musk holds 42 percent of corporate shares and retains 85 percent of voting power through super-voting stock. Operations are divided into three branches: Space, Connectivity, and Artificial Intelligence. The Space division handles more annual orbital launches than any rival provider or national program. The Connectivity branch manages Starlink satellite operations, while the Artificial Intelligence branch oversees Grok, X, and data centers. Key technical advances include rocket propulsion, reusable boosters, crewed space missions, and satellite constellations. Primary clientele includes NASA, the United States Space Force, and the National Reconnaissance Office. After three launch failures nearly forced bankruptcy, SpaceX guided Falcon 1 into orbit in 2008, becoming the first private entity to place a liquid-propellant rocket into orbit. In 2010, the company introduced Falcon 9 and Dragon 1 to fulfill NASA contracts for cargo deliveries to the International Space Station. SpaceX became the first commercial organization to dock with the station in 2012, while simultaneously building reusability features for Falcon 9 first stages. The firm achieved its first booster recovery in 2015 and flew a pre-owned booster stage in 2017. The three-core Falcon Heavy completed its inaugural voyage in 201 Space Exploration Technologies Corp., doing business as SpaceX, is an American spaceflight, telecommunications, and artificial intelligence company headquartered at the Starbase development site in Starbase, Texas. The company operates three divisions: "Space", which conducts more orbital launches annually than any other launch provider, including national programs; "Connectivity", which operates Starlink, a communications satellite company; and "Artificial intelligence", which operates Grok, X, and data centers.
