What you'll do
- Design and develop next-generation rocket engines, test stands, and production lines to meet stringent performance targets.
- Apply hand calculations and finite element analysis tools to evaluate structural integrity and optimize mechanical designs for manufacturability.
- Drive iterative improvements in manufacturing processes and development testing methodologies to increase efficiency and reliability.
- Partner with cross-functional interdisciplinary groups to ensure seamless hardware integration across propulsion, guidance, and structural Raptor systems.
- Execute analysis of significant business outcomes while simultaneously expanding your technical expertise and professional capabilities.
- Translate system requirements into detailed engineering specifications for propulsion components and subsystems.
- Support the development and execution of test campaigns, including setup, data collection, and preliminary analysis of test results.
- Document engineering decisions, processes, and results to maintain clear technical records and facilitate knowledge transfer.
- Implement design changes based on test data and manufacturing feedback to resolve issues and enhance performance.
- Contribute to the creation of standard work procedures that uphold safety, quality, and production throughput standards.
- Utilize CAD software and other engineering tools to create and modify detailed part and assembly drawings.
- Assist in troubleshooting anomalies during development and production phases to minimize schedule impacts.
- Support the assessment of vendor parts and materials to ensure compliance with strict engineering specifications.
- Participate in design reviews and technical meetings to communicate progress and gather feedback from experienced engineers.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor degree in physics or an engineering discipline relevant to propulsion systems.
- Possess a minimum of 1 year of experience in fluids or mechanical engineering gained through internships, professional work, research, or project teams.
- Anticipate graduation in spring, summer, or fall of 2026 with a completed degree.
- Demonstrate the ability to work weekends and extended hours as required to meet project deadlines.
- Show eligibility to obtain necessary security clearances and comply with ITAR regulations.
- Maintain citizenship or eligible immigration status that permits employment in the designated location.
- Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with technical teams.
- Apply basic physics and engineering principles to analyze problems and develop practical solutions.
