About the role

SpaceX is seeking a supply chain leader to manage sourcing and procurement for the Starlink constellation. You will guide a team to optimize production equipment, control costs, and maintain a competitive supply base to support our growth and mission. In this capacity, you will act as the primary strategic partner for Starlink hardware initiatives, ensuring that supply chain capabilities keep pace with aggressive production timelines. You will be responsible for establishing the frameworks that allow the team to source critical components efficiently while mitigating long-term risk. Success in this role requires balancing technical complexity with commercial pragmatism to protect the business and the mission. You will foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement within your team. Ultimately, your work will directly influence the scalability and resilience of the satellite communication network.

What you'll do

• Conduct exhaustive market analysis to identify alternative suppliers and evaluate emerging technologies relevant to Starlink hardware categories.
• Architect and implement the sourcing strategy for critical electronic components, ensuring alignment with production forecasts and cost targets.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the supply base, including supplier capabilities, capacity constraints, and financial health.
• Lead complex negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable payment terms, pricing structures, and risk-sharing agreements.
• Partner with engineering and operations to analyze production equipment, identify bottlenecks, and drive initiatives that reduce total cost of ownership.
• Create detailed project budgets and capitalization plans that provide full visibility into spend and support executive decision-making.
• Build and mentor a high-performing supply chain team, providing clear direction, coaching, and regular leadership status updates.
• Establish and maintain rigorous supplier performance metrics to monitor quality, delivery, and compliance against contractual obligations.
• Synthesize data from various sources to prepare compelling presentations of sourcing strategies and value propositions for executive leadership.
• Ensure strict adherence to corporate policies regarding payment terms, delivery schedules, and risk management protocols.
• Collaborate with finance to manage inventory levels, forecast accuracy, and working capital optimization for the Starlink supply chain.
• Drive the execution of category management best practices, including spend analysis, supplier rationalization, and strategic sourcing initiatives.
• Represent the Starlink supply chain function in cross-functional forums to ensure alignment with company-wide objectives and initiatives.
• Oversee the management of the supply base to foster innovation, improve quality, and maintain a diverse and competitive vendor landscape.

Requirements

• Advanced degree plus 9+ years of experience, OR bachelor's degree plus 11+ years of experience, OR 15+ years of experience in engineering, purchasing, contract negotiation, production planning, or supply chain management.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee to meet ITAR requirements.
• Ability to work onsite in Redmond, WA.
• Availability for flexible hours, weekends, and travel as required.
• Demonstrated expertise in managing complex supply chains for hardware-intensive products.
• Proven track record of leading negotiations and securing advantageous commercial terms.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate it into actionable insights.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills necessary for influencing stakeholders at all organizational levels.
• Willingness to operate in a dynamic, fast-paced, and sometimes ambiguous environment.
• Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of ethics, integrity, and compliance in all professional activities.
• Experience with budgeting, financial modeling, and cost control methodologies.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and production planning principles.

• Background in electronic product supply chains, including PCBA, PCB, and NPI production ramp.

Practical notes

• Salary range: $160,000 to $210,000 per year.
• Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance, disability insurance, and paid parental leave.
• Compensation package may include long-term incentives, discretionary bonuses, and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
• Includes 3 weeks of paid vacation and 10+ paid holidays per year, plus accrued sick leave.
