About the role
In this position, you will play a crucial role in managing the supply chain for Starlink, with a specific focus on the procurement of custom silicon and semiconductors. Your responsibilities will encompass overseeing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and managing the entire product lifecycle to ensure that our hardware can scale effectively to meet the demands of global satellite internet services.

What you'll do
- Conduct in-depth analyses of supplier markets to develop sourcing strategies that minimize costs while ensuring a reliable supply chain.
- Oversee supplier performance through the use of performance scorecards, regular audits, and established management protocols.
- Assess the technical capabilities of suppliers to facilitate new product development and support mass production efforts.
- Engage in complex contract negotiations that address pricing, intellectual property rights, liability issues, and compliance with export regulations.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality assurance teams to address material rejections and ensure that designs align with supplier capabilities.
- Execute purchasing transactions and manage inventory levels through effective material requirements planning (MRP).
- Provide guidance and mentorship to internal procurement personnel regarding tactical execution and strategic planning.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to foster collaboration and innovation in product development.
- Monitor industry trends and advancements in semiconductor technology to inform sourcing strategies.
- Prepare and present reports on supply chain performance metrics to senior management.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to drive initiatives that enhance supply chain efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies throughout the procurement process.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree with a minimum of 6 years of experience in supply chain management, production, or engineering; or an advanced degree with at least 4 years of relevant experience; or 10 years of applicable experience without a degree.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee to comply with ITAR regulations.
- Willingness to work onsite in Redmond, WA.
- Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, and travel up to 25% as necessary.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to navigate complex supply chain challenges.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with suppliers and internal teams.
Nice to have
- Over 6 years of procurement experience specifically related to custom silicon and outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) sourcing.
- A solid technical understanding of silicon foundry processes and OSAT manufacturing.
- Experience in managing product development cycles, including new product introductions and mass production phases.
- Familiarity with global foundry service vendors specializing in RF or analog components.
- Proficiency in using ERP systems and understanding purchasing functions within those systems.
Skills & tools
- Expertise in custom silicon and OSAT sourcing strategies.
- Proficient in Material Requirements Planning (MRP) methodologies.
- Strong skills in contract negotiation and administration.
- Experience in supplier performance management and evaluation.
