About the role
SpaceX is building the Starlink satellite constellation to provide global broadband internet. This role focuses on creating the software and web interfaces that allow millions of users to manage their connectivity across aviation, maritime, and enterprise sectors. You will own the end-to-end development of critical user-facing features that directly impact the reliability and performance of the Starlink network. The position requires a deep commitment to writing robust code that ensures high availability for mission-critical applications. You will be responsible for translating complex system requirements into elegant software solutions. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is central to delivering seamless user experiences. What you'll do
- Architect and implement responsive, high-performance web applications that serve as the primary interface for Starlink operations.
- Design and develop fault-tolerant, scalable software systems capable of operating continuously with minimal maintenance over extended periods.
- Produce clean, production-grade code using TypeScript, HTML, and CSS to ensure compatibility with modern browsers and strict standards.
- Engineer comprehensive full-stack solutions by leveraging a .NET Core micro-service architecture integrated within a Kubernetes environment.
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to enhance observability and monitoring for millions of connected assets in real time.
- Engage actively in architectural reviews, design sessions, and rigorous code audits to uphold the highest engineering standards.
- Analyze intricate user problems and devise efficient engineering strategies to resolve them effectively and sustainably.
- Implement secure and maintainable interfaces that facilitate communication between backend services and frontend applications.
- Optimize application workflows to improve responsiveness and reduce latency for global users across diverse network conditions.
- Contribute to the definition and evolution of technical standards that govern long-term software sustainability.
- Support the deployment and maintenance of software releases through automated pipelines and monitoring tools.
- Validate system functionality through testing and feedback to ensure alignment with business and user requirements.
- Document technical designs and implementation details to support knowledge sharing and future development.
- Mentor junior engineers by providing guidance on best practices in software architecture and delivery.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor degree in computer science or a STEM field with 5+ years of professional software development experience, OR 7+ years of professional experience without a degree.
- Demonstrate a proven background in full-stack software development across both frontend and backend domains.
- Exhibit the ability to work extended hours and weekends as the mission of Starlink demands flexible availability.
- Meet ITAR requirements by being a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
- Show strong ownership of complex problems and the initiative to drive solutions from conception to deployment.
- Maintain attention to detail to ensure software quality and adherence to architectural guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders to clarify requirements and expectations.
- Adapt to evolving priorities while maintaining focus on delivery deadlines and system stability.
Nice to have
- Demonstrate proficiency in Python, C#, .NET, Go, Scala, or Java for backend service development.
- Apply production experience with Docker and Kubernetes to manage containerized applications at scale.
- Show frontend expertise in React, Angular, or similar frameworks for building interactive user interfaces.
- Utilize database experience with PostgreSQL or SQL Server for data modeling and query optimization.
- Apply familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control, and Unix-like operating systems in daily workflows.

Practical notes
Salary range: $170,000 to $235,000 per year.
Total rewards include company stock, stock options, long-term cash awards, discretionary bonuses, and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
