Become a vital part of the team at SpaceX's Starbase, where you will oversee environmental, health, and safety initiatives. In this position, you will collaborate closely with engineers and technicians to ensure that all operations adhere to the relevant federal, state, and local environmental regulations. What you'll do
- Lead the management of air quality permits, including but not limited to PBR, PSD, and Title V, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Supervise the development and implementation of environmental management plans, such as TPDES, SWPPP, SPCC, and hazardous waste protocols.
- Prepare, review, and submit necessary reports for Tier II, TRI, and hazardous waste, ensuring timely compliance with regulatory deadlines.
- Analyze and interpret new environmental regulations, providing guidance on their implications for operational practices and site management.
- Maintain and update inspection tools and compliance calendars to ensure the site is always prepared for audits and inspections.
- Work in partnership with engineering, launch, and construction teams to seamlessly integrate compliance measures into everyday operations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for communication with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies regarding environmental matters.
- Conduct training sessions for staff on environmental compliance and best practices to foster a culture of safety and sustainability.
- Monitor and report on environmental performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and ensure continuous compliance.
- Assist in the development of emergency response plans and conduct drills to prepare for potential environmental incidents.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to address environmental challenges and promote innovative solutions within the organization.
- Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in environmental engineering to enhance compliance strategies and practices.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required.
- A minimum of three years of professional experience in creating and implementing environmental compliance programs is essential.
- Candidates must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, or asylees to comply with ITAR regulations.
- Strong understanding of environmental regulations and compliance requirements at federal, state, and local levels.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey complex information to diverse audiences.
Nice to have
- A bachelor's degree specifically in environmental management or engineering is preferred.
- At least five years of experience in environmental compliance within industrial or manufacturing contexts is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Texas-specific environmental regulations and agencies, such as TCEQ, USFWS, TGLO, and USCG, is a plus.
- Experience in technical writing, capable of addressing both technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively.
- Knowledge of sustainability practices and their implementation in engineering projects.
- Certification in environmental management or related fields would be beneficial.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in air permitting processes (PBR, PSD, Title V) and compliance management.

- Skilled in environmental regulatory reporting and documentation.
- Familiarity with environmental management software and tools for tracking compliance metrics.

Practical notes
- This position requires on-site presence at Starbase, TX. Candidates not currently residing in the Brownsville area will need to relocate.
- Flexibility in working hours is necessary, as extended hours or weekend work may be required based on project demands.
