This role designs and maintains the network infrastructure that supports SpaceX launch sites, production facilities, and spacecraft systems. You will manage the design, operation, and troubleshooting of fiber and copper network infrastructure, and you will coordinate downtime with construction and production teams to limit operational impact. The physical layer of data, voice, and RF communications is central to the role.
The role blends engineering with project management. You will oversee material procurement and manage construction contracts with subcontractors, perform electrical system analysis, including arc flash studies and breaker coordination, and provide technical guidance to field technicians for equipment repair and installation. You will also drive projects using power monitoring data and design change requests.
Reliable communications are essential to every Falcon, Dragon, and Starship mission, so this role has a direct impact on mission success. Candidates with experience designing commercial or industrial telecom systems like LAN, WAN, WIFI, LTE, and structured cabling, and expertise in high density structured cabling, will be well prepared. Knowledge of low voltage AC/DC power, UPS systems, backup generators, and standards such as NEC, NFPA, IBC, and ANSI/TIA/BICSI cabling design is valuable. The role requires a BICSI RCDD certification or a STEM degree, and involves working in varied weather conditions and holding or being eligible for a TWIC card. It is an excellent opportunity to combine telecom and electrical engineering while supporting missions that range from Falcon launches to Starship development. The role offers strong ownership over network infrastructure that is critical to every launch.
Requirements
- BICSI RCDD certification or a bachelor degree in a STEM field.
- 2+ years of professional experience in industrial electrical engineering and medium or high voltage power systems.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee to meet ITAR requirements.
- Ability to lift 25 lbs, work in varied weather conditions, and travel as required.
- Must hold or be eligible for a TWIC card and pass Air Force background checks.
- Valid driver license.
Nice to have
- 5+ years of experience designing commercial or industrial telecom systems like LAN, WAN, WIFI, LTE, and structured cabling.
- Expertise in high density structured cabling.
- Knowledge of low voltage AC/DC power, UPS systems, and backup generators.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or Revit.
- Familiarity with NEC, NFPA, and IBC standards.
- Understanding of ANSI/TIA/BICSI cabling design standards.
