About the role
In this exciting position, you will become a vital member of the IT network infrastructure team at SpaceX. Your primary responsibility will be to design, implement, and maintain the essential connectivity that supports our launch sites, production facilities, and spacecraft operations. This role emphasizes the creation and management of fiber optic, copper, and RF systems that are critical for the successful execution of Falcon, Dragon, and Starship missions.

What you'll do
- Oversee the design, installation, and troubleshooting of fiber and copper cabling systems for IP-based networks, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with construction and production teams to develop project timelines that minimize operational interruptions during installations.
- Monitor the health of electrical systems, including conducting breaker coordination, performing arc flash studies, and tracking system capacity.
- Manage the procurement of materials and oversee construction contracts from initiation through to the successful completion of projects.
- Provide expert technical support to field technicians during equipment repairs and installations, ensuring adherence to best practices.
- Utilize power monitoring data and detection techniques to implement necessary design modifications for improved efficiency.
- Conduct site assessments to evaluate existing infrastructure and identify areas for improvement or upgrades.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of network designs, installations, and modifications for future reference and compliance.
Requirements
- A BICSI RCDD certification or a bachelor's degree in a relevant STEM discipline is required.
- A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in industrial electrical engineering, particularly with medium or high voltage power systems.
- Candidates must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, or asylees to comply with ITAR regulations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders.
- Familiarity with industry standards and best practices in telecommunications and electrical engineering.
Nice to have
- Over 5 years of experience in designing or constructing commercial or industrial telecommunication systems, including LAN, WAN, WIFI, LTE, and ISP/OSP cabling.
- Proficiency in structured cabling systems designed for high-density environments.
- Knowledge of low voltage AC/DC power systems, including UPS systems, backup generators, and automatic transfer switches.
- Experience with design software such as AutoCAD or Revit for creating detailed project plans.
- Understanding of relevant codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA, IBC, and ANSI/TIA/BICSI.
- Background in construction project management, with skills in budgeting and scheduling.
Skills & tools
- Expertise in fiber and copper network cabling technologies.
- Proficient in RF systems and their integration into telecommunications networks.
- Knowledge of electrical load management and capacity planning.
- Experience in managing construction contracts and vendor relationships.
- Familiarity with design tools such as AutoCAD and Revit for technical drawings and schematics.
Practical notes
- Candidates must be able to successfully pass background checks required for access to Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg facilities.
- Eligibility for a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) is necessary for this position.
- A valid driver's license is required, along with the physical capability to lift items weighing up to 25 lbs.
- The role involves physical labor in diverse weather conditions and may require working in confined spaces.
- Be prepared for extended hours, including weekends and travel, as dictated by mission requirements and project timelines.
