About the role
SpaceX is on the lookout for a skilled legal expert to join the Starlink team, which is dedicated to delivering high-speed broadband internet globally via its satellite network. In this role, you will serve as a key legal advisor to various business and product teams, helping them navigate the intricate legal frameworks associated with satellite-to-mobile communications and internet services. What you'll do
- Negotiate and draft a variety of commercial agreements across sectors including aviation, maritime, enterprise, resale, and retail, ensuring that all contracts align with company objectives and legal standards.
- Oversee the global terms of service for both residential and business Starlink products, ensuring clarity and compliance with applicable laws.
- Provide legal guidance to product and growth teams at every stage of the product lifecycle, identifying and mitigating potential legal risks.
- Develop and implement internal controls and training programs for sales and support teams to enhance understanding of legal obligations and best practices.
- Analyze telecommunications and consumer protection regulations to inform the launch of new service offerings and ensure compliance.
- Create and refine legal templates and internal processes to streamline deal-making and improve operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address legal issues that arise in the course of business operations and product development.
- Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations that may impact Starlink's operations and proactively advise the team on necessary adjustments.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor or an equivalent law degree from an accredited institution is required.
- A minimum of four years of relevant professional legal experience is essential.
- Candidates must be a member in good standing of a U.S. State bar.
- Ability to work onsite in Hawthorne, CA, with flexibility for weekends and extended hours when necessary.
- Must meet ITAR requirements, which include being a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
- Strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.

- Previous in-house legal experience within the technology sector, especially in roles that involve direct collaboration with sales and product teams.
- Proven track record of managing legal issues for multinational, high-growth companies.

- Experience negotiating contracts with international governments or intergovernmental organizations.
- Knowledge of regulatory challenges and consumer protection laws relevant to the technology and telecommunications sectors.

- Proficient in legal research and analysis, with a strong understanding of telecommunications law and consumer protection regulations.
- Familiarity with contract management software and tools that enhance legal workflow efficiency.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while also being capable of independent work.
Practical notes
- The salary for this position ranges from $190,000 to $245,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
- The compensation package may include long-term incentives such as stock options or cash awards, as well as discretionary bonuses and participation in an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
