About the role
SpaceX is seeking a meticulous and proactive Benefits Coordinator to oversee our employee benefits programs and provide support to our team. In this role, you will act as a key resource for staff inquiries, ensuring that all data is managed accurately and that payroll processes are seamlessly coordinated. What you'll do
- Manage a variety of employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, accident coverage, disability, and retirement plans.
- Conduct new hire orientations to familiarize employees with benefits offerings and ensure they understand their options during the annual open enrollment period.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employees seeking assistance with their benefits, providing support via email, phone, and face-to-face interactions.
- Regularly update and maintain employee enrollment data in the Workday system to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Collaborate with the payroll department to confirm that all benefit deductions are processed correctly and in a timely manner.
- Oversee various employee perks and wellness programs, including relocation services, commuter benefits, and managing leaves of absence.
- Assist with administrative responsibilities related to workers' compensation claims, onsite medical services, and the onsite preschool operations.
- Analyze benefits data to identify trends and areas for improvement, making recommendations to enhance the overall employee experience.
- Prepare reports and presentations on benefits utilization and employee feedback for management review.
- Stay informed about industry trends and changes in regulations that may impact employee benefits, ensuring compliance and best practices are followed.
- Participate in special projects and initiatives aimed at improving the benefits program and overall employee satisfaction.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required.
- At least 6 months of administrative experience is necessary, which may include internships or relevant coursework.
- Candidates must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, or asylees to comply with ITAR regulations.
- Must be able to work onsite in Hawthorne, CA, and be open to relocating if required.
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed to meet project deadlines.
- Ability to travel to other company locations up to 15% of the time for training or project needs.
Nice to have
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in benefits administration, leaves of absence management, or workers' compensation is preferred.
- Familiarity with Workday or other Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) is a plus.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is highly desirable, as it will enhance communication with a diverse workforce.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and effectively.
- Strong organizational capabilities, with a keen attention to detail to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to prioritize effectively and adapt to changing circumstances while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Practical notes
- The hourly wage for this position is $27.00.
- The total compensation package includes company stock options, long-term cash incentives, discretionary bonuses, and participation in an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
