About the role
Solaris is a European embedded finance platform that provides modular banking technology to a wide range of companies. We are seeking a financial expert to manage our planning and controlling operations while acting as a key advisor to our executive leadership team. The Senior FP&A Specialist will own the end-to-end planning cycle, translating business strategy into actionable financial insights and ensuring disciplined execution across all departments. This role requires a proactive mindset to challenge existing assumptions, identify variances, and drive data-informed decisions that protect long-term value. You will serve as the primary financial interpreter for the executive suite, converting complex operational data into clear narratives and concise materials. The position demands ownership of regulatory capital considerations and the ability to model various what-if scenarios with precision. You will establish the governance framework for financial reporting, ensuring transparency and reliability in every dashboard you produce. Ultimately, you will safeguard the financial health of the company while enabling scalable growth in a regulated environment.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Orchestrate the annual budget cycle and multi-year strategic planning sessions while securing alignment from Tech, Commercial, Operations, and Risk departments.
- Synthesize and deliver high-level performance reports tailored for the CEO, CFO, and Management Board, highlighting key risks and opportunities.
- Architect and sustain financial models that represent P&L, balance sheets, and capital requirements, incorporating rigorous scenario testing for regulatory ratios such as CET1.
- Disaggregate and analyze unit economics, isolating trends in transaction costs, vendor spending, and cost-to-serve metrics to uncover efficiency levers.
- Act as a strategic partner to department heads, providing guidance on pricing structures, product profitability, and the financial impact of strategic initiatives.
- Ensure the accuracy of cost allocation methodologies and uphold audit-ready financial processes that strictly adhere to BaFin and SRB regulatory standards.
- Monitor actual performance against forecasts, investigating root causes of deviations and proposing corrective actions to management.
- Lead the development of dashboards and management packs using Excel and PowerPoint, ensuring clarity, consistency, and analytical depth.
- Leverage enterprise planning software such as Pigment to consolidate forecasts, manage drivers, and streamline the rolling forecast process.
- Evaluate the viability of new business cases, assessing capital implications and profitability drivers within the context of the current banking regulatory landscape.
Requirements
- Bring 5 to 6 years of professional experience in banking, fintech, investment banking, strategy consulting, or data-focused finance roles.
- Hold a degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or another analytically rigorous discipline.
- Demonstrate expertise in advanced financial modeling, business case evaluation, and the intricacies of capital dynamics.
- Exhibit advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint for constructing sophisticated dashboards and compelling management presentations.
- Show prior experience utilizing Pigment or comparable enterprise planning software for comprehensive forecasting and driver-based planning.
- Maintain a strong grasp of banking profitability drivers and the regulatory financial environment that governs financial institutions.
- Prove the ability to manage diverse stakeholders, challenge assumptions constructively, and respect regulatory constraints in every recommendation.
- Communicate professionally in English with fluency, ensuring precise and unambiguous documentation and verbal exchanges.

- Apply SQL, VBA, or Python skills to automate data workflows and handle large datasets efficiently.
- Contribute with German language abilities to engage seamlessly with local stakeholders and support regional operations.
