Key facts
What you'll do
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety policies aligned with UK legislation such as the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, COSHH, RIDDOR, and relevant Approved Codes of Practice.
- Investigate all health, fire, and food safety accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring thorough recording and timely processing in accordance with company procedures, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Create and review risk assessments for all work equipment and operations, including the completion of COSHH risk assessments, to ensure safe systems of work are established and maintained.
- Conduct internal health, safety, and fire audits, reporting performance findings to management teams to uphold a secure environment for employees, members, and customers.
- Liaise with General Managers and Safety and Operations Managers to ensure statutory compliance is achieved across all sites, and to ensure structured plans and processes maintain elevated standards.
- Ensure compliance documentation for equipment and structures is current and available for inspection when required.
- Assist in the periodic delivery of safety-related training to foster a culture of continuous improvement and high standards, while contributing to the development of safety training materials.
- Apply NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent qualifications to interpret and apply regulatory requirements accurately within the operational context.
- Utilize auditing skills and experience with management systems to monitor effectiveness and drive procedural enhancements.
- Communicate safety performance and recommendations clearly through concise reports and actionable plans tailored for leadership audiences.
Requirements
- Hold a NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent qualification as a mandatory requirement for this role.
- Hold a minimum qualification of Level 3 or 4 in Food Safety as a desirable standard for this position.
- Possess a minimum of three years' experience managing occupational health and safety and risk management within a similar operational environment.
- Demonstrate the ability to influence and lead a health and safety culture across multiple sites and stakeholder groups.
- Apply auditing skills and experience with management systems to assess compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Produce concise reports and action plans that communicate complex safety information clearly and effectively.
- Operate proactively with strong organizational skills, balancing independent initiative with collaborative teamwork.
- Establish and maintain constructive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all organizational levels.
- Exhibit engaging behaviors that build trust and positively influence a safety-focused culture.
- Commit to understanding and applying UK health, fire, and food safety legislation relevant to the responsibilities of this role.
- Ensure strict adherence to Soho House internal safety management systems, policies, and training programs.
- Contribute to the continuous development of safety standards and best practices across the business.
