As the Director of Internal Communications at SoFi, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and enhancing the internal communication strategies that connect our diverse workforce. You will collaborate closely with senior leadership and various departments to ensure that all internal messaging aligns with our business objectives and resonates with our team members.

What you'll do
- Develop and implement a comprehensive internal communications strategy that supports SoFi's business goals and enhances employee engagement across all levels of the organization.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to craft key messages and narratives that align with the company's vision, ensuring consistency and clarity in all communications.
- Oversee the creation and distribution of internal communications materials, including newsletters, announcements, and digital content, to keep employees informed and engaged.
- Lead the internal communications team, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure high-quality output and professional development.
- Organize and facilitate town hall meetings, leadership forums, and other employee engagement events to foster open dialogue and strengthen the connection between leadership and staff.
- Monitor and analyze employee feedback and engagement metrics to assess the effectiveness of communication strategies and make data-driven improvements.
- Partner with HR and other departments to ensure that internal communications align with employee onboarding, training, and development initiatives.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on communication best practices, helping them navigate complex issues and effectively communicate change initiatives.
- Manage the internal communications budget, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently to maximize impact.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in internal communications to continually enhance SoFi's approach and effectiveness.
- Foster a culture of inclusivity and transparency by promoting diverse voices and perspectives in internal communications.
- Act as a brand ambassador for SoFi, ensuring that internal communications reflect the company's culture and values while promoting a positive work environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in internal communications, corporate communications, or a related field, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful internal communication strategies in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and engaging manner.
- Strong leadership skills, with experience managing teams and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Experience with communication measurement tools and methodologies to assess the effectiveness of internal communications.
- Familiarity with digital communication platforms and tools, including intranets, social media, and email marketing.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to have
- Experience in the financial services or fintech industry is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of change management principles and practices.
- Familiarity with crisis communication strategies and experience managing communication during organizational change.
- Certification in communications or public relations (e.g., APR, ABC) is a plus.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace.
- Experience with content management systems (CMS) and internal communication platforms.
- Familiarity with graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva) for creating visually engaging content.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret data and derive actionable insights.
