Key facts
What you'll do
- Lead the development and implementation of credit policies and procedures that support SoFi's lending objectives while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Analyze credit data and financial statements to determine the creditworthiness of potential borrowers, utilizing advanced risk assessment techniques.
- Collaborate with data science teams to enhance credit scoring models and improve predictive analytics for better decision-making.
- Manage a team of credit analysts, providing mentorship and guidance to foster their professional growth and ensure high-quality credit assessments.
- Conduct regular reviews of credit portfolios to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement, presenting findings to senior leadership.

- Establish and maintain relationships with external credit bureaus and industry partners to stay informed about best practices and emerging trends in credit risk management.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations for stakeholders, summarizing credit performance metrics and strategic recommendations.
- Monitor regulatory changes and industry developments to ensure SoFi remains compliant and competitive in the credit market.
- Participate in cross-functional projects that require credit expertise, contributing to initiatives that enhance overall customer experience and operational efficiency.
- Develop training materials and conduct workshops for internal teams on credit policies and risk management practices.
- Actively participate in the recruitment process for new credit team members, ensuring that the team is equipped with the necessary skills and expertise.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field; a Master's degree or relevant certification (e.g., CFA, FRM) is a plus.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in credit risk management, preferably within the financial services or fintech industry.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing credit policies and risk assessment frameworks.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and make data-driven decisions.
- Experience in managing teams and leading projects, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to credit and lending practices, including knowledge of consumer protection laws.
