Skydio is actively searching for a Senior Learning Experience Developer to help drive the evolution of our training organization. In this capacity, you will be responsible for the conception and execution of high-impact learning initiatives centered on autonomous flight systems. The role requires you to partner with cross-functional teams to deconstruct sophisticated technology and reassemble it into practical educational solutions. You will be at the forefront of investigating how new digital tools can be leveraged to improve how our personnel learn and perform. Success in this position will be measured by your ability to create resources that not only educate but also actively enhance on-the-job proficiency. What you'll do
- Develop and produce learner-focused educational materials that improve knowledge retention, skill acquisition, and operational readiness using a variety of instructional strategies.
- Transform intricate technical system details into compelling learning modules tailored for multiple delivery formats, including in-person classes, self-study pathways, simulations, and immersive environments.
- Lead the production of high-quality instructional videos, animated motion graphics, and engaging interactive learning assets that clarify complex procedures.
- Integrate Skydio Paraverse into structured pilot and technician training programs while actively researching and piloting emerging tools such as AI for content generation, augmented reality, virtual reality, and advanced simulation.
- Collaborate closely with instructors, software engineers, simulation developers, and subject matter experts to ensure technical accuracy and pedagogical effectiveness of all training materials.
- Establish and maintain production standards, style guides, templates, and repeatable workflows to guarantee consistent quality and efficiency across the entire training department.
- Analyze learner feedback and performance data to iteratively refine educational assets and drive continuous improvement in training outcomes.
- Contribute strategic insights and innovative concepts that help define the future direction of learning technologies and instructional design philosophy at Skydio.
- Manage multiple project timelines simultaneously, prioritizing tasks to meet production deadlines without compromising the quality of the learning experience.
- Evaluate and recommend new authoring tools, platforms, and technologies that align with the evolving needs of the training team and the organization.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in Educational Technology, Digital Media, Media Production, Instructional Design, Communications, or a closely related field, or possess equivalent practical experience that demonstrates the required competencies.
- Bring a minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience creating educational, instructional, or technical learning content for diverse audiences.
- Show demonstrable proficiency in producing high-quality instructional videos, motion graphics, animation, and sophisticated multimedia storytelling that engages learners.
- Have substantial experience developing learning content for complex technical products, specialized fields, or industries where accuracy and clarity are critical.
- Present a strong portfolio featuring a diverse range of high-quality instructional media that highlights your process and final deliverables.
- Prove a history of working effectively and collaboratively with engineers, instructional designers, and technical subject matter experts in a professional setting.
- Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills, along with expert-level project management and proactive stakeholder management capabilities.
- Possess a self-driven mindset capable of operating independently and taking ownership of complex projects from initial concept through final delivery.
Nice to have
- Experience supporting industries with similar technical complexity, such as aviation, aerospace, robotics, defense, industrial equipment, or autonomous systems, where safety and precision are paramount.
- Hands-on experience creating immersive learning experiences using VR, AR, MR, simulation, or other interactive visualization tools to enhance knowledge transfer.
- Familiarity with immersive learning platforms and the development of scenario-based or simulator-based learning environments that replicate real-world conditions.
- Practical experience with game engines or real-time visualization platforms like Unity or Unreal Engine to build interactive and visually rich learning modules.
- Knowledge of simulation technologies, digital twins, geospatial visualization, Cesium, 3D Tiles, or spatial data workflows that can enhance technical training.
- Experience leveraging AI tools to assist in creative processes, instructional design, scripting, or production workflows to increase efficiency and innovation.
- A deep understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design theories, and performance-based training methodologies to guide content decisions.
