Mammography Technologist
Job description
About the role
This position exists at the heart of diagnostic imaging, where technical mastery meets human connection. As a Mammography Technologist within the SimonMed network, you are responsible for producing high-quality mammography images with precision, compassion, and confidence. You ensure that every patient feels seen, respected, and cared for throughout their visit. This role is fundamental to our mission of advancing early detection through reliable, patient-centered care. You will manage the complete exam journey, from the moment a patient arrives until the final image is reviewed and cleared for the radiologist. Collaboration with colleagues is essential, as you partner to ensure every procedure aligns with clinical standards and individual patient needs.
Your daily work involves a blend of technological proficiency and interpersonal skill. You will calibrate systems and verify baseline settings to guarantee that equipment is prepared to meet diagnostic requirements before the first patient is scheduled. You will coordinate patient arrival, confirm identity, and review histories to streamline the flow of appointments while keeping individuals informed and comfortable. Achieving high-quality images requires constant adjustment of compression force and positioning angles to obtain superior views that consistently meet technical standards. You will document each step of the examination and verify all labels to ensure records remain accurate, traceable, and ready for radiologist interpretation.
Efficiency is a core component of the position. You will optimize workflow between screening and diagnostic cases to keep appointments on schedule without compromising critical steps. Safety is paramount; you will maintain strict adherence to safety practices and perform regular equipment checks to ensure procedures are safe, orderly, and fully compliant with regulatory expectations. Communication is a key tool; you will clearly explain procedures to patients who are anxious or in discomfort, offering choices when possible to support their sense of control. You will support the broader team by sharing insights, covering gaps, and helping colleagues uphold standards across multiple exams and modalities.
