About the role
Similarweb is seeking an Analytics Engineer to join our Data Enablement team in Prague. You will serve as the primary engineering resource, managing the end-to-end lifecycle of technical projects that support our data-driven operations. In this capacity, you will act as the central point of ownership for data initiatives, ensuring that concepts move from initial exploration to robust implementation. You will define the technical structure of our analytics landscape while maintaining a sharp focus on data integrity and reliability. The role requires you to bridge the gap between raw data pipelines and actionable business insights through disciplined engineering practices. You will be responsible for establishing the foundational frameworks that allow our analysts to operate at scale and speed. Your work will directly influence how efficiently the organization makes decisions based on empirical evidence. Key facts
What you'll do
- Establish and manage the Databricks development environment, defining project structures that align with enterprise data standards.
- Design and deploy internal tools, including automated and AI-assisted utilities, to accelerate data investigation and reduce cycle time.
- Partner with analysts to transition ad hoc tools into stable, production-ready solutions that can be reliably maintained and scaled.
- Uphold strict Git workflows, conduct thorough code reviews, and manage deployment processes via GitLab to ensure traceability and quality.
- Oversee automated ETL pipelines and intelligent agents to guarantee efficient data flow and operational resilience.
- Systematically identify and eliminate manual, repetitive tasks through automation, freeing analytical capacity for high-value work.
- Perform hands-on data analysis to validate assumptions and ensure the technical soundness of the solutions you architect.
- Integrate AI coding assistants such as Claude or Cursor into your daily development routine to enhance productivity and code quality.
- Liaise with infrastructure teams to coordinate the scaling of new technical solutions as data volume and complexity grow.
- Champion best practices across the data stack, ensuring that every component is secure, maintainable, and well-documented.
- Drive the adoption of standardized data models to enable consistent metrics across the organization.
- Troubleshoot intricate data issues by leveraging deep SQL and PySpark expertise to isolate root causes quickly.
- Mentor junior analysts on engineering principles, fostering a culture of data discipline and continuous improvement.
- Monitor pipeline performance and implement optimizations that enhance speed, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
Requirements
- Demonstrate proficiency in Python, PySpark, and advanced SQL, with the ability to write efficient, scalable code.
- Show the capacity to independently plan, design, and execute solutions for complex or ambiguous problems without excessive guidance.
- Exhibit a strong grasp of software engineering fundamentals, including version control with Git and modern continuous integration practices.
- Maintain the capability to maintain a codebase independently while exercising sound judgment on engineering scope and technical debt.
- Bring experience with AWS or a willingness to transition from GCP or Azure, adapting to the cloud environment where Similarweb operates.
- Possess the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and concisely to non-technical stakeholders, translating complexity into actionable narratives.
- Show a focus on analytical accuracy and a natural curiosity for investigating data anomalies to drive data integrity.
- Display ownership of end-to-end project delivery, from initial requirements gathering through deployment and post-launch monitoring.
- Commit to writing clean, testable code that adheres to internal standards and supports long-term maintainability.

- The engagement model for this role is Hybrid, requiring presence in the office for 3 days per week with 2 days of remote work.
