Sift is pioneering a data infrastructure platform tailored for hardware engineering teams, transforming high-frequency telemetry data into actionable insights for critical machinery, including rockets and autonomous vehicles. This position centers around Sift Agents, which are AI-driven tools designed to assist hardware engineers by analyzing anomalies, scrutinizing data, and swiftly addressing complex inquiries. You will have substantial ownership of the product, engaging directly with clients to grasp their requirements and developing features from the initial idea through to ongoing enhancements.

What you'll do
- Collaborate closely with customers and product teams to translate review workflows into actionable capabilities for the agents, including the creation of dashboards and analytical scripts.
- Design and enhance the frontend interfaces for Sift Agents, ensuring an exceptional user experience throughout.
- Craft intuitive interaction patterns for the user experience of the agents, which includes managing streaming responses and handling long-running tasks effectively.
- Present agent findings alongside relevant telemetry data, ensuring performance remains swift even when dealing with extensive datasets.
- advanced techniques such as Web Workers and custom caching to optimize browser performance, going beyond conventional frameworks when necessary.
- Contribute to the development of a shared component library to ensure uniform UI patterns across the entire product suite.
- Collaborate with backend and full-stack engineers to design APIs for agent sessions, ensuring integration and functionality.
- Engage in iterative development processes, gathering feedback from users to refine and enhance features continuously.
- Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies, particularly in AI, to inform product development and innovation.
- Participate in code reviews and provide mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and improvement within the team.
- Analyze user feedback and performance metrics to identify areas for enhancement and drive product evolution.
- Document development processes and maintain clear communication with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on project goals and timelines.
Requirements
- A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in software engineering.
- A passion for product ownership, including engaging with customers, defining features, and overseeing their delivery.
- Proven experience in creating complex, high-performance web applications using technologies such as React, NextJS, or TypeScript.
- A eye for detail in user interfaces, with an ability to recognize micro-interactions, latency issues, and overall visual quality.
- A strong interest in new AI products, with a proactive approach to exploring and evaluating new agents and models.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Nice to have
- Experience in delivering products at scale, particularly those involving large data sets, numerous active users, or significant technical challenges.
- Previous involvement in developing features powered by large language models (LLMs).
- Familiarity with building chat or agent interfaces, particularly those that manage streaming responses and long-running tasks.
- A solid understanding of web performance optimization techniques and browser rendering processes.
- Knowledge of modern CSS frameworks (e.g., Tailwind) and component libraries (e.g., Radix UI) for design systems.
- Experience with technical visualization tools such as WebGL, D3.js, Apache ECharts, as well as WebAssembly and time-series data handling.
- Developed tools aimed at technical users, such as dashboards or environments for data editing.
- A personal collection of AI development tools, custom agents, or workflows that showcase your initiative and creativity.
- A background in scientific computing or experience with hardware testing and telemetry is a plus.
