Operations Manager, Product & Engineering
Job description
About the role
The Operations Manager, Product & Engineering role at Sierra is a critical leadership position responsible for owning the end-to-end operating system for Product and Engineering across Sierra's global teams. Sierra is a primarily in-person company headquartered in San Francisco, with growing offices in Atlanta, New York, London, Paris, Madrid, Munich, Singapore, Tokyo, and Sydney. This position is based in London and is a full-time engagement subject to standard working hours as defined by company policy. Candidates must be eligible to work in the United Kingdom without sponsorship at this time. The role is deeply aligned with Sierra's mission of helping businesses build better, more human customer experiences with AI. It is designed to ensure clarity, alignment, and high-quality execution across product and engineering functions globally, while consistently upholding Sierra's core values of Trust, Customer Obsession, Craftsmanship, Intensity, and Family.
What you'll do
You will coordinate the end-to-end operating cadence for Product and Engineering, including planning cycles, roadmap workflows, initiative tracking, sprint planning, and team initiatives. You will design and optimize key operational rituals such as product reviews, retrospectives, team syncs, and engineering demos to drive clarity, alignment, and velocity. You will build and maintain critical operational artifacts including roadmaps, planning documents, capacity trackers, dashboards, and retros to keep stakeholders informed and aligned. You will coordinate cross-functional initiatives that span Product, Engineering, Design, Brand, Sales, and Ops to drive alignment, timelines, and clear accountability.
You will partner with product, engineering, and marketing leads to create scalable frameworks for goal setting, such as OKRs, and for prioritization and execution. You will analyze operational data and team feedback to identify friction points and implement systems that improve execution quality and outcomes. You will own the end-to-end internationalization operations playbook, working with stakeholders to localize processes and ensure consistent quality and execution as Sierra scales globally. This includes managing vendor relationships and contributing to localization expansion efforts so that products and processes support global markets. You will maintain a high level of rigor and structure in ambiguous environments, turning complex operational needs into repeatable systems and processes. You will serve as a key liaison between leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure transparency, timely updates, and shared ownership of product and engineering outcomes. You will continuously refine communication and documentation standards to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment across all teams and stakeholders.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will bring 6-8+ years of experience in Product Operations, Business Operations, or Program Management in a high-growth, product-led company. You will have a proven track record of building and scaling operational processes from scratch in fast-paced environments. You are highly organized and methodical, bringing rigor, structure, and momentum to ambiguous situations. You will demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills - being clear, succinct, and persuasive across stakeholders and levels. You will be comfortable using tools like Linear, Figma, Google Drive, or similar to create systems that stick and scale. You will possess strong analytical instincts with proficiency in Excel/Sheets; SQL or dashboard experience is a plus. You will have experience at an early-stage startup or scaling product organization. Familiarity with OKR frameworks, roadmap tools, or product analytics platforms is required. You will have a background in product management, engineering, or consulting/strategy with deep operational exposure.
Nice to have
Experience with vendor management and localization expansion efforts is a valuable addition to the core requirements. This includes familiarity with processes and best practices that support international quality and execution, which aligns directly with Sierra's focus on building scalable and human-centered experiences globally.
