About the role
The is entrusted with the comprehensive oversight of global variable compensation programs, serving as the pivotal technical expert who translates high-level commercial strategy into precise payout calculations. This role owns the end-to-end management of the compensation lifecycle, from initial design logic through to final payment execution, ensuring absolute accuracy and compliance. You are the designated authority for the integrity of the compensation data, responsible for architecting the complex rules engines that determine earnings for our international workforce. The position requires acting as the central hub for all compensation-related inquiries, providing definitive answers and solutions to internal stakeholders. You will own the communication of plan changes and calculations to employees, fostering transparency and trust in the compensation process. Success in this role means guaranteeing that every salesperson receives the correct reward based on verified performance against agreed targets. You will own the validation of results, reconciling payouts across systems to ensure financial accuracy before distribution. This function is critical to maintaining a performance-driven culture and ensuring that the commercial machinery of the organization runs smoothly and fairly.

What you'll do
- Architect and own the logic for global variable compensation plans, translating business requirements into functional specifications within the CaptivateIQ platform.
- Configure and maintain the rules engines and calculations that determine variable payouts, ensuring they reflect the current agreements and policies accurately.
- Calculate and own the execution of compensation payouts on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis for all eligible sales personnel globally.
- Serve as the primary technical owner for the compensation software, managing the setup, testing, and validation of all plan configurations.
- Own the creation and distribution of compensation plan documentation, providing clear explanations to new hires and employees undergoing role changes.
- Own the response to employee inquiries regarding compensation calculations, providing timely and accurate feedback and guidance to resolve issues.
- Own the analysis of periodic compensation results, generating reports for business owners to review and validate the accuracy of payouts.
- Own the development of ad hoc queries to investigate discrepancies, validate data integrity, and support audit requirements.
- Analyze existing compensation workflows to identify inefficiencies and own the compilation of data necessary for process improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with Finance, People Operations, and Revenue Operations to gather requirements and ensure the proper execution and administration of compensation plans.
- Own the support for continuous improvement by identifying automation opportunities and proposing enhancements to the compensation systems and processes.
- Own the commitment to ongoing professional development and innovation in the fields of sales compensation and variable pay administration.
- Ensure the integrity and confidentiality of all sensitive personnel and compensation data handled throughout the process.
- Provide subject matter expertise on compensation matters to support leadership and cross-functional projects.
- Contribute to the development of best practices for compensation administration and documentation.
Requirements
- You own a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Finance, or a closely related discipline.
- You must rapidly own the role of Subject Matter Expert in our variable compensation software, specifically the CaptivateIQ platform.
- You are required to manage multiple priorities and strict deadlines simultaneously without compromising on accuracy or quality.
- Exceptional organizational skills are mandatory to prevent errors in sensitive personnel and compensation data.
- You must possess advanced abilities in spreadsheet software, utilizing complex formulas for data management, auditing, and reporting.
- Strong presentation and communication skills are necessary to convey technical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Discretion and maturity are critical when handling confidential employee information on a daily basis.
- A natural curiosity and a mindset focused on versatility and continuous improvement are essential traits for success in this position.
- You must have the ability to own complex problem-solving and see tasks through to completion with minimal supervision.
- You are expected to own a high level of attention to detail to ensure error-free compensation processing.
Nice to have
- The ability to write business documents clearly is preferred for internal communication and process documentation.
- Understanding financial forecasting and modeling is beneficial for supporting plan adjustments and scenario planning.
- While not required, knowledge of quota structures, accelerators, pay mix, and on-target earnings is advantageous for deeper analysis.
- Experience in project management, from initiation through to closure, is a valuable asset for driving cross-functional initiatives.
- Previous experience within high-tech industries or SaaS business models is also considered a plus for faster acclimation.
