About the role
You will own the end-to-end strategy and execution of our organic growth engine at a pivotal moment in search. You will lead the convergence of traditional SEO, Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), and AI-driven search to position our brand at the forefront of discovery. This role requires you to ensure our brand is discoverable, authoritative, and consistently growing in traffic and business impact across standard search engines and emerging AI platforms. You will be a key driver of experimentation, using data to validate hypotheses and scale successful initiatives across the entire customer journey. The role demands a rare blend of analytical rigor, technical execution, and creative problem-solving to navigate a constantly evolving landscape. You will become a world-class subject matter expert within 12-18 months, shaping the future of how we reach our audience.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Own technical SEO end-to-end, conducting audits, prioritizing issues, and resolving them using tools such as Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, Google Search Console, log file analysis, and custom tooling.
- Lead our Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) and AI Search strategy, optimizing content, structured data, and entity signals to ensure visibility and citation in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Claude, and other LLM-powered search experiences.
- Design and run a continuous program of SEO and GEO experiments, forming hypotheses, instrumenting tracking mechanisms, analyzing results rigorously, and scaling what proves successful.
- Build dashboards and analytical frameworks that connect organic activity to business outcomes, including indexing, rankings, click-through rates, AI citation share, conversions, and revenue.
- Implement on-page SEO best practices, including internal linking, schema markup, meta and title optimization, canonicalization, and content structuring for both classic search and LLM retrieval.
- Identify and resolve indexation problems, crawl issues, broken links, redirect chains, Core Web Vitals regressions, and JavaScript rendering issues that impact visibility and performance.
- Write clear, detailed product requirements and development tickets, partnering with engineering and design teams to deploy SEO and GEO improvements without friction.
- Use AI tools and AI-enabled workflows aggressively to scale audits, content production, keyword and entity research, and competitive analysis while finding new ways to increase leverage.
- Stay deeply current on Google algorithm updates, LLM retrieval and citation behaviors, and emerging GEO best practices, translating findings into internal playbooks and becoming the in-house authority.
- Distribute and repurpose content across owned and rented placements such as blogs, YouTube, Reddit, and LinkedIn to drive measurable organic value.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align SEO and GEO initiatives with broader marketing, product, and business objectives.
- Mentor and influence stakeholders on the importance of SEO and GEO, elevating organic thinking across the organization.
- Track and report on the performance of organic and AI-driven channels, identifying opportunities and threats in the search landscape.
- Maintain a test-driven mindset, iterating quickly based on data and ensuring that learnings are documented and shared.
- Ensure all content and technical optimizations adhere to the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and user intent.
- Support special projects related to search innovation, emerging channels, and strategic partnerships as needed.
- Work within defined operational constraints to deliver results efficiently and sustainably.
- Contribute to the development of long-term content and technical roadmaps that support scalable growth.
Requirements
- Demonstrate deep analytical capabilities, being fluent in GA4, Google Search Console, and spreadsheets while remaining comfortable working with messy data; SQL or Python experience is a strong advantage.
- Show excellence in writing, producing both strategic briefs and complete articles or content pieces that are clear, precise, and effective.
- Exhibit strong technical aptitude, understanding how the web functions, reading HTML/CSS/JavaScript, reasoning about rendering and crawlability, and writing specifications that developers respect.
- Maintain a relentless, can-do attitude, taking ownership of problems end-to-end without waiting for direction and ensuring follow-through on impact.
- Possess a high learning rate, diligently studying SEO and GEO algorithms, reading patents, analyzing search engine results pages, running tests, and synthesizing findings into clear, repeatable playbooks.
- Display eagerness to learn AI tools and AI-enabled scaling techniques, actively experimenting and pushing the boundaries of what is possible.
- Bring 3-5 years of experience in SEO, growth, analytics, or organic marketing roles, demonstrating a track record of success in these areas.
- Hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in an analytical field of study, providing a foundation for complex problem-solving.
- Show a strong drive to deliver results in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment while balancing multiple priorities and stakeholders.
- Communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, ensuring alignment and clarity across teams and with external partners.
- Understand the importance of compliance and best practices, ensuring that all work meets legal and ethical standards.
