About the role
Selector Software is looking for a Software Engineer to join their growing team based in Santa Clara, California. This is a full-time position where the engineer will contribute to building and maintaining software products that serve internal and external users. The role involves working closely with colleagues across disciplines to design, develop, and deliver reliable software solutions. The engineer will take ownership of features and components across the product lifecycle, from initial concept through deployment and maintenance.

What you'll do
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code for internal and customer-facing software applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement new features.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure quality and consistency across the codebase.
- Debug and resolve software defects in a timely and thorough manner.
- Contribute to system design discussions and architectural decisions for new modules.
- Maintain and continuously improve existing software infrastructure and deployment pipelines.
- Write and update technical documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Work with product managers to understand requirements and translate them into technical plans.
- Participate in testing and quality assurance activities to verify software behavior.
- Stay current with industry practices and share knowledge with team members.
- Assist in mentoring junior engineers and supporting their professional growth.
- Attend regular team meetings and provide status updates on project progress.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and propose practical solutions to streamline development work.
- Coordinate with QA teams to ensure software releases meet quality standards and expectations.
- Refactor legacy code to improve readability, testability, and long-term maintainability of the system.
- Collaborate with security teams to ensure software follows best practices for data protection.
- Contribute to the improvement of development tools and internal automation scripts.
- Support the onboarding of new team members by documenting systems and processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field is required.
- Experience writing software applications using modern programming languages and relevant frameworks.
- Familiarity with version control systems and collaborative software development workflows is expected.
- Strong problem-solving skills and careful attention to detail in code quality and correctness.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented and fast-paced development environment.
- Comfortable with learning new tools, technologies, and domain knowledge on a regular basis.
- Good communication skills for interacting with both technical and non-technical colleagues on a daily basis.
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of tasks and deliver reliable results independently and on schedule.
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotation and support production systems as needed.
- Experience with performance profiling and optimizing software for speed and efficiency.
