About the role
This role is responsible for owning the end-to-end strategy and execution of global employee benefits programs at Scopely. The hire will architect a cohesive benefits framework that balances local market relevance with global standardization to support our international workforce. You will lead the design, implementation, and oversight of all core and supplemental benefits programs to drive retention, attraction, and overall employee wellbeing. This position requires a strategic partner who can translate business objectives into comprehensive benefits solutions while maintaining rigorous compliance across all jurisdictions. You will manage a team of benefits professionals, guiding their development and ensuring high-quality delivery of services. The role demands a proactive approach to identifying market trends and regulatory shifts to future-proof our programs. Success in this position will be measured by program effectiveness, employee satisfaction, and the ability to scale benefits infrastructure efficiently across the organization.

What you'll do
- Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the current global benefits landscape to identify gaps and opportunities for enhancement.
- Formulate and implement a global benefits philosophy that aligns with Scopely's culture, growth strategy, and employee value proposition.
- Own the management of the full lifecycle of employee benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, welfare benefits, disability coverage, and leave programs.
- Lead the planning and execution of annual benefits renewals and open enrollment campaigns, utilizing data analytics to guide decision-making and stakeholder engagement.
- Develop and maintain a deep expertise in global compliance, ensuring all programs adhere to regional, local, and international regulations such as ERISA, HIPAA, FMLA, and PFL.
- Partner closely with Finance, Legal, Payroll, and regional HR teams to ensure benefits harmonization during mergers, acquisitions, and periods of organizational growth.
- Drive the integration of automation and advanced analytics to elevate the employee experience and streamline self-service capabilities.
- Perform detailed budget planning, cost forecasting, and vendor performance analysis to optimize spend and ensure fiscal responsibility.
- Coach, mentor, and develop the benefits team members to build capability and support successful scaling of programs.
- Serve as the primary subject matter expert for all benefits-related initiatives, providing clear communication and education to leadership and employees.
- Establish governance frameworks and policies to ensure operational excellence and consistency across all markets.
- Evaluate fully insured and self-insured funding models, providing strategic recommendations based on financial analysis and risk assessment.
- Lead cross-functional projects that require navigating complex stakeholder landscapes and managing competing priorities.
- Champion the use of data insights to continuously improve program design, communication strategies, and employee outcomes.
Requirements
- Demonstrate proven experience in developing and executing global benefits strategy across multiple countries and regulatory environments.
- Possess deep expertise in global compliance and regulatory frameworks, including but not limited to ERISA, HIPAA, FMLA, and local PFL requirements.
- Show a proven ability to balance the need for global consistency with the implementation of local market practices and preferences.
- Exhibit strong analytical and financial acumen, with experience in evaluating the financial implications of benefits decisions.
- Have experience assessing both fully insured and self-insured funding models to determine the optimal structure for each region.
- Display exceptional skill in translating complex benefits information into clear, concise, and engaging communications for diverse audiences.
- Demonstrate a history of successfully managing cross-functional projects and leading, developing, and motivating teams through change.
- Bring a track record of managing end-to-end benefits lifecycles, from initial design through implementation and ongoing administration.

- Bring a background working within the gaming, technology, or entertainment sectors, understanding their unique benefits challenges.
- Show proficiency with Workday, Google Workspace, and a variety of benefits administration platforms to streamline processes.
- Demonstrate experience leveraging AI and automation tools to enhance HR operations and employee service delivery.
Practical notes
- This is a full-time position based in the United States, with the primary work location in Culver City, California, or remote.
- Compensation details specify a salary range of $161,500 to $238,000 USD for specific states including California, Colorado, New Jersey, New York, and Washington.
