About the role
The Public Sector software engineers design and deliver the foundational systems that allow mission-focused teams to build and operate agentic behaviors across diverse operational settings. This role owns the end to end lifecycle of capabilities that ingest, normalize, and process federal data streams to support time sensitive decision making in contested environments. You will create and evolve multi layered guardrails that constrain and guide agent actions while preserving flexibility and auditability. You will optimize data retrieval paths and architectures so that agents can access the right information at the right latency. You will orchestrate fleets of asynchronous agents, coordinate their interactions, and surface clear explanations for how decisions emerge from underlying workflows. You will surface anomalies and automatically alert stakeholders when data or agent behavior deviates from policy or expectation. Most critically, you will translate complex technical tradeoffs into narratives that senior government leaders and C Suite stakeholders can use to make informed product decisions.

What you'll do
Define and drive the technical strategy for agentic guardrails, ensuring that safety, explainability, and compliance are built in from the start rather than bolted on later.
Architect and implement data pipelines that extract, transform, and load heterogeneous federal datasets into reliable, queryable stores suitable for real time agent consumption.
Design orchestration frameworks that coordinate fleets of asynchronous agents, manage task dependencies, and preserve state across long running missions.
Implement explainability interfaces that illustrate how an agent reached a specific decision, including which data sources and model inputs influenced outcomes.
Establish monitoring and alerting mechanisms that automatically notify users and operators of deviations in data quality, model performance, or system behavior.
Partner with federal engineering teams to translate broad mission objectives into concrete technical requirements and implementation backlogs.
Mentor engineers on the process of defining requirements with stakeholders, gathering acceptance criteria, and validating that delivered solutions meet demanding government standards.
Communicate high level technical tradeoffs and implementation strategies to senior government stakeholders and Scale C Suite members in clear, actionable terms.
Evaluate and adopt cloud native technologies, including containerization and orchestration platforms, to ensure that solutions are portable, resilient, and secure across classification boundaries.
Champion reliability practices that keep systems performant and available across classified and unclassified network environments.
Influence the long term product strategy for the Federal business unit by identifying patterns, emerging threats, and opportunities for platform consolidation.
Consult on the architecture of AI powered solutions for large scale federal contracts, ensuring that designs are aligned with budget, schedule, and risk constraints.
Promote data governance principles by standardizing metadata, lineage, and provenance across pipelines used for agent training and evaluation.
Champion a culture of rigorous experimentation, where features are validated through testing, observation, and measured impact on mission outcomes.
Serve as a technical bridge between policy makers, mission owners, and implementation teams to ensure that delivered capabilities are both lawful and operationally effective.
Requirements
Demonstrate full stack development proficiency, including front end, back end, and infrastructure components used in modern distributed systems.
Bring hands on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and show familiarity with deploying and operating services in cloud native environments.
Show competence with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration frameworks such as Kubernetes for managing scalable workloads.
Apply strong data engineering skills to design ETL processes, build data pipelines, and implement robust data models that support agentic workloads.
Exhibit fluency in integrating Large Language Models and building agentic workflows, including prompt engineering and retrieval augmented generation techniques.
Leverage strong analytical and problem solving abilities to deconstruct complex challenges, identify root causes, and propose innovative technical solutions.
Show excellence in collaboration and communication, enabling effective partnerships with cross functional teams and clear articulation of concepts to non technical audiences.
Demonstrate adaptability and learning agility, quickly mastering new tools, frameworks, and evolving project constraints in a regulated government context.

Experience contributing to open source projects that intersect with security, data governance, or distributed systems.
Prior work in environments that require operation across multiple security classifications or compliance frameworks relevant to government workloads.
