About the role
You will partner with product and engineering teams to shape the legal strategy for new financial products from inception through launch. Your work will directly influence the design of payment and consumer credit solutions, ensuring they are built on a solid legal foundation from day one. You will own the analysis of regulatory implications for cross-border activities and translate complex rules into actionable guidance for the business. This role requires you to manage high-stakes contracts and negotiations, protecting the company while enabling growth. You will be the primary point of contact for regulatory inquiries and provide clear, structured advice to leadership. The position demands a proactive approach to identifying emerging risks and proposing pragmatic solutions. You will document legal positions and processes to ensure consistency and scalability. Ultimately, you will be a key driver in enabling Satispay to expand responsibly and securely in the fintech landscape.

What you'll do
Provide strategic legal counsel on payments, e-money, and consumer credit products, including BNPL, to support innovation and compliance.
Conduct in-depth risk assessments to identify and mitigate legal and regulatory exposures related to product launches and business operations.
Interpret and apply financial regulations such as PSD2, AML/KYC, e-money regulations, and CCD2 to ensure the company adheres to all requirements.
Act as a trusted advisor to senior management, translating legal jargon into practical business recommendations and fostering legal awareness.
Collaborate with technical and engineering teams during product development to embed legal and regulatory requirements into the design of fintech solutions.
Manage relationships with external stakeholders and regulators, representing the company's interests in communications and negotiations.
Develop and review contractual frameworks to protect the organization in commercial dealings and partnerships.
Monitor changes in the regulatory environment and assess their potential impact on business strategy and operations.
Lead internal training and awareness initiatives to promote a culture of compliance and legal understanding across the organization.
Document legal analyses, decisions, and processes to maintain clear records and support scalable governance.
Support the evaluation and onboarding of third-party vendors, ensuring all agreements align with legal and risk policies.
Provide guidance on data protection and privacy considerations as they intersect with financial services and consumer rights.
Champion best practices in corporate governance and ensure that legal controls are integrated into business processes.
Contribute to the development of policies and procedures that align with the company's growth objectives and risk appetite.
Requirements
You must be a qualified lawyer with a minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience, and ideally 8-10 years of professional legal experience in relevant fields.
You possess deep knowledge of financial regulations and consumer credit laws, including PSD2, AML/KYC, e-money regulations, and CCD2, backed by a proven track record in the fintech sector.
You have substantial experience working both in private practice and in-house, allowing you to adapt to different legal cultures and expectations.
You demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex legal issues and make sound, risk-based decisions.
You have clear technical and commercial awareness, understanding how fintech products are built and the business implications of legal advice.
You are fluent in English, both written and spoken, which is essential for the role, while knowledge of Italian or French is an additional asset.
You are comfortable working within fast-paced, dynamic environments and can manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
You exhibit a high level of integrity and professionalism, with the ability to maintain confidentiality in sensitive matters.
Nice to have
Experience with RegTech solutions or legal automation tools.
Knowledge of Luxembourg financial regulation and licensing requirements.
Practical notes
Work model: Hybrid, with three days per week in-office (Tuesday and Thursday + 1 of your choice), with the option to request extra remote time.
This role is based in Luxembourg, Luxembourg.
