About the role
This role leads Rowan's natural gas strategy and delivery for data center campuses. You will ensure reliable, scalable, and cost-effective fuel supply for critical power generation. This position drives long-term energy resilience by developing innovative gas delivery solutions. You will own the end-to-end strategy for natural gas infrastructure across the portfolio of new and existing data center developments. The position requires you to act as the primary internal leader for all gas-related planning, execution, and optimization. You will translate complex energy needs into actionable plans that align with customer demands and operational goals. This role is responsible for pioneering new approaches to gas delivery that enhance efficiency and reduce risk. You will serve as the key architect of Rowan's onsite generation fuel security and reliability.

What you'll do
- Orchestrate Rowan's comprehensive natural gas strategy for the portfolio, managing both established sites and pioneering data center campus developments.
- Architect and finalize firm transportation agreements, supply contracts, and strategic capacity reservations with critical energy providers.
- Engineer resilient, behind-the-meter gas delivery solutions, encompassing advanced laterals and innovative infrastructure configurations.
- Design and execute sophisticated hedging strategies to effectively mitigate commodity price risk for natural gas across the business.
- Champion the advancement and integration of emerging generation technologies, guiding them from initial pilot programs to full portfolio implementation.
- Construct sophisticated data analytics platforms and market intelligence tools to drive informed site screening and critical infrastructure investment decisions.
- Partner deeply with engineering, construction, legal, and finance stakeholders to guarantee the punctual and successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects.
- Serve as Rowan's primary representative in high-stakes customer discussions, articulating the value of resiliency and environmental performance.
- Shape site selection and overarching development strategy by providing expert analysis on gas infrastructure availability and total cost of ownership.
- Synthesize complex data into clear business cases and strategic investment recommendations for executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
- Engage proactively with external senior executives at major utilities, pipeline operators, and key energy providers to secure strategic advantages.
- Mentor and develop high-performing team members across the organization, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Lead the technical and commercial due diligence process for all potential gas infrastructure opportunities and partnerships.
- Define and optimize end-to-end operational procedures to enhance the reliability and cost-efficiency of gas supply for critical loads.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, construction management, real estate, or a closely related technical or analytical field.
- Bring a minimum of 12 years of cumulative experience developing natural gas infrastructure specifically for large industrial applications or critical load facilities.
- Demonstrate at least 5 years of professional experience working directly with gas utilities, pipeline companies, power plants, energy developers, EPC firms, or as a large energy consumer.
- Possess a proven track record of successfully leading complex negotiations for gas service agreements, firm capacity reservations, and comprehensive infrastructure development agreements.
- Maintain a strong, current understanding of gas transmission and distribution system operations, applicable regulatory frameworks, and established commercial structures.
- Show evidence of leading and managing large teams or significant cross-functional programs within fast-paced, demanding operational environments.
- Exhibit executive-level proficiency in communication, negotiation, quantitative analysis, and complex organizational management.

- Hold an MBA or another advanced degree that provides strategic business training.
- Bring direct experience in the delivery of on-site generation systems or the development of large-scale power infrastructure projects.

- This role requires the ability to travel up to 25% of the time for company gatherings or to visit project sites.
- The position is based in the Denver, Colorado office within a hybrid work model.
