About the role
You will manage the day-to-day accounting operations including accounts receivable, accounts payable, revenue recognition, payroll, expenses, and taxation. You will manage the month-end close for our Canadian and US entities, prepare timely and accurate consolidated financial statements in compliance with US GAAP, and other month-end functions including, reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations, and preparing detailed plan-to-actual variance analysis. You will be responsible for managing financial year-end close procedures for our subsidiaries, including preparation of annual financial statements and coordination with external tax consultants. You will assist the Director of Accounting
Controller in preparing financial statement note disclosures in accordance with US GAAP. You will research and establish company-wide accounting policies and procedures. You will ensure compliance of financial and accounting related activities. You will provide training, mentorship, and performance feedback.

What you'll do
- Execute and own the full cycle of accounts receivable and accounts payable while establishing robust controls for accuracy and timeliness.
- Own the month-end close process for Canadian and US entities and deliver consolidated financial statements that adhere to US GAAP with precision and speed.
- Drive the preparation of annual financial statements for subsidiaries and coordinate closely with external tax consultants to meet regulatory deadlines.
- Analyze and review journal entries and account reconciliations to ensure completeness and integrity of the general ledger.
- Prepare detailed plan-to-actual variance analysis to illuminate spending patterns and support strategic decision-making.
- Research, draft, and implement company-wide accounting policies and procedures that promote consistency and compliance.
- Partner with the Director of Accounting
- Controller to draft financial statement note disclosures that align with US GAAP requirements.
- Oversee compliance of all financial and accounting activities, mitigating risk and safeguarding company interests.
- Provide training, mentorship, and actionable performance feedback to accounting team members to elevate capability and accountability.
- Leverage systems such as Netsuite where applicable to streamline processes and improve financial reporting efficiency.
- Manage US indirect tax compliance, including sales and use tax, SaaS taxation, economic nexus, multi-state registrations, and collaboration with external tax advisors.
- Support leadership with financial insights and recommendations derived from rigorous analysis and accurate reporting.
- Maintain flexibility to operate under time constraints and deadlines without compromising quality or attention to detail.
- Champion a culture of ownership, proactive problem-solving, and continuous improvement within the finance organization.
Requirements
- Hold a CPA designation as a mandatory credential for this position.
- Possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field as a foundational requirement.
- Bring a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience, ideally blending public accounting and industry backgrounds.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting requirements to ensure accurate compliance.
- Show experience with Netsuite as a valued asset for managing financial operations.
- Exhibit proven ability to manage U.S. indirect tax compliance, including sales and use tax, SaaS taxation, economic nexus, multi-state registrations, and advisory work with external tax advisors.

Practical notes
- Remote role based in Canada.
- Compensation range is $110,000.00 - $140,000.00 CAD.
