What you'll do

• Design and implement responsive and intuitive user interfaces for Roku's streaming applications, ensuring a seamless experience across various devices.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define and refine user requirements and specifications.
• Utilize modern front-end technologies and frameworks to build high-performance web applications that scale effectively.
• Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers, promoting best practices in UI development and coding standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve UI-related issues, ensuring optimal performance and usability of applications.
• Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in UI technologies, integrating new tools and techniques into the development process.
• Mentor junior engineers, sharing knowledge and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.
• Participate in agile development processes, contributing to sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives to enhance team collaboration and productivity.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for UI components, ensuring clarity and consistency across projects.
• Work with QA teams to ensure thorough testing of UI features, addressing any bugs or usability concerns before deployment.
• Engage with users and stakeholders to gather feedback, iterating on designs and features to enhance overall user satisfaction.
• Contribute to the strategic direction of UI development, proposing innovative ideas that align with Roku's vision and goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in software development, with a strong focus on UI engineering.
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with experience in modern frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
• Strong understanding of responsive design principles and cross-browser compatibility issues.
• Experience with version control systems, particularly Git, and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
• Solid problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with mobile application development for iOS and Android platforms.
• Familiarity with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices in UI design.
• Previous experience working in an agile development environment.
• Understanding of backend technologies and APIs, enabling effective collaboration with backend teams.
