Key facts
What you'll do
- You will be responsible for designing and implementing new features that enhance user experiences on the Roku platform, focusing on screensavers, wallpapers, trivia, and AI-driven projects.
- You will create proof-of-concept (PoC) projects to explore new ideas and adopt an agile, startup-like approach to deliver results quickly.
- Collaborate closely with UI/UX designers and backend developers to bring new experiences to life, ensuring a cohesive and user-friendly interface.
- Adapt your PoC projects for full-scale production, ensuring they meet commercial viability standards.
- Investigate and troubleshoot issues to maintain the integrity and performance of our solutions.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline is required.
- Significant hands-on experience with AI workflows and agentic engineering tools is essential.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, React Native, Python, or BrightScript is necessary.
- Familiarity with C++ programming, particularly in embedded systems, is a must.
- Experience in consumer electronics, particularly in media or advertising product development, is advantageous.
- Proven ability to productionize solutions, including aspects of content management, UI development, and cloud integration.
- A solid understanding of core operating system concepts, including memory management and multi-threading, is required.
- Experience with API design, including an understanding of the associated trade-offs and considerations, is important.
- Strong communication skills are crucial, as the role involves regular collaboration with various teams.

- Proficiency with AI tools and frameworks, including experience in using coding harnesses like Claude Code or Cursor, and familiarity with agent frameworks.

Practical notes
For candidates located in California, the anticipated annual salary for this position ranges from $170,000 to $210,000. Compensation is determined based on various factors unique to each applicant, including skills, certifications, and geographic location. This position offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, equity awards, life insurance, disability coverage, parental leave, wellness programs, and paid time off.
Roku promotes a hybrid work model, encouraging in-office collaboration from Monday to Thursday, with Fridays generally offering flexibility for remote work, unless specific roles require full-time office attendance.
